Sorry, no character profile implementation (yet). But we added a way to convert your saved Player profiles into a tinyurl link.
Order of operations to successfully do this:
.5. Make sure cookies are enabled for our website @ theasiangamer.
1. Build your weapon/armor profile.
2. Save your profile.
3. Click "Convert Saved Profile to URL" at the top of the calculator. The readonly input field next to it will display a tinyurl link after a short redirect.
4. Share your link with your friends, or to me if you have troubleshooting issues! (If you still require extensive help, I will likely need the tinyurl link in addition to either transcriptions of screenshots of some or all of your items to cross-reference.)
Thanks to everyone who still use our calculator! Even my D3 playtime has gone down lately, but I know there are still some of you out there farming items and playing the AH religiously.
We're still around and learning how to implement new things to make our damage calculator feel more complete. YummyUnicornNinja is learning how to parse data from the new character profiles. It's definitely harder than WoW's character profiles, with static items and easier urls. But If we're successful, inputting items will be a whole lot easier.
New armory import system is working like a charm! Thanks! Also, my stats are same as ingame values after trying 3rd spreadsheet/calculator. Really gj mate.
Haha, you beat me to it. Yeah, we added a few things:
Alternative display for marginal damage gain or loss, displays a + - % after the numerical value.
Char Profile Uploading. You'll have to input your exact character profile link, i.e. "http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Dyril-1533/hero/766650" into the URL input box, then hit "Get Data." You'll be redirected to the calculator again, this time with most of your data filled out already. For now though, you must edit your weapon damage ranges and buffs/set bonuses manually for more accurate results.
Prototype char profile upload: YummyUnicornNinja has worked really hard on researching on how to do it, it's a completely foreign beast, like a Jormungandr. But it works, and when we learn how to make it better, we'll do it =) We're complete noobs in the API/data grabbing department, so bear with us!
Thanks to everyone who still uses it, I still see about ~4000 unique visitors daily who use our calculator alone. Spread the word!
We've updated the Character Profile link uploading feature of the site.
Data is pulled from the API, so now you no longer have to double-check your weapon inputs.
This will also account for +% damage on weapons too, as weapons with that affix will display their decimal damage, with calculated damage using those exact numbers.
Some set bonuses are accounted for, including those that increase your primary stat by some amount of stat. For everything else though, please use Step 2 to adjust or approximate your DPS with other set bonuses.
Corrected some mathematics behind the Damage Stats Display at the bottom of the calculator, avg dmg/hit for main-hand and off-hand weapons should now properly take into account +% damage buffs. Please refrain from using the +% damage box to compute skill damage however, as that will give you inaccurate results if you have other +% damage skills.
We do not use the API to pull the displayed damage from the Character Profiles, because, embarrassing to say, they're not very accurate Trust your in-game display. I've personally tested our calculator hundreds of times now, and I'm quite confident in our web-ability to match the in-game damage display.
Also note, until Blizzard decides to respond to my e-mail in regards to my API authentication key request, we have decided to put the BattleTag ID/character select feature on hold (we were almost done with it too, bleh). This method is to allow us to reduce the number of unauthenticated API requests, so we stay under their daily cap of 10,000.
Thanks everyone who have helped us discover miscalculations and other issues, you've certainly brought us to where we are today.
Oh I see that you can't do more than 10k a day nvm
The page does indeed refresh, but you should be able to see a calculated damage at the bottom to indicate something was imported. Did you verify that and/or expand the armor/weapons sections? The data should automatically fill out for you. I just successfully imported your Character Profile.
Looks a bit confusing at first, but it just takes a while to get used to.
One thing that I would change is how you can update your gear. Something similar to the gear part of the BNet profiler, that when you click on a gear slot you could change the stats of that specific gear piece.
Nonetheless, congratz! Definitely a very useful tool! Specially for being web based.
Btw, I apologize if my english is bad. It's not my primary language
I understood the majority of your post, so no worries there!
Yeah, I've tested a bunch of the competitors' calculators with all their bells and whistles. They all look very nice, but I decided to go with a simplistic-display approach. It makes it a lot easier when we need to do major revisions (like today).
Speaking of which, we've incorporated a few new things since 1.0.4's release:
Paragon Levels. As of this post, they are not displayed on your Character Profiles so we can't auto-pull that information for you yet. Manually input your Paragon Levels to adjust your primary stat for more accurate calculations.
New column for the weapon damage Affix "+.XX attacks per second." Importing your Character Profiles should automatically get the information for you. I also added the columns to items for expansive foresight in the event they decide to add the affix to other items in the future.
Probably the most important note of this post, if you saved a Profile or exported a tinyURL with our calculator before:
You MUST update your Profiles by either manually inputting your gear again, or importing your Character Profile. Sorry, but due to the nature of the updates, old cookies and links will not properly import to our site. This should be the last major update for awhile, so after you re-save your Profiles, everything should be good to go again.
Fixed a bug with our Follower Damage Calculator, evidently there was an unintentional ceiling on crit damage. Damage should be correct now, for those who like min-maxing their companions!
Haven't implemented +APS Affix for Followers yet, just FYI for those who experiment with it. As a temporary fix, just add enough IAS until it matches up with your follower's weapon's displayed Attack Speed. They don't dual-wield, so the APS calculations work just like Weapon IAS.
Hi, awesome calc, been using and recommending it for a while now. However recently with the paragon changes, the calc is freezing whenever i hit 'load profile' and I have to forcefully close the tab in chrome with the 'background tabs' tool. Not sure what's causing this.
Edit: nevermind it seems to have magically sorted itself out.
I actually experienced that myself once we changed the calculator to include +APS. If you had some stored cookies from before, loading that would cause it to lock up. Just gotta make sure you save a fresh profile with new cookies and it should be fine though. It appears you probably did this, which is what made it sort itself out.
Thanks a lot for the recommends, I've noticed since 1.0.4 came out there's been a huge return of players!
Awesome tool, by far the best out there. I just had issues loading your page and started to go into panic mode, i use your page 10+ a day lol. Thanks man!
11:15 PM PDT Update: Some server maintenance, website will be down temporarily. This is to address some of the downtime suffered this morning. Please try again in a little bit and it should be up again.
Hey everyone, just letting you all know we're working on implementing support for +% elemental bonuses now that it's been confirmed it's working the way it was speculated it works.
I have preliminary formulas for testing now, however I require some data.
For those who wish to participate to help me make it as accurate as possible,
I need two things (if you have any +% elemental damage on your gear):
1) Your Battle.net profile link, most up to date.
2) Your in-game displayed damage (it may vary from the Profile), no companions, no temporary buffs (Blazing Wrath, etc.). Passive buffs are ok (Weapons Master, etc.).
If you would like to remain anonymous on these forums, you can e-mail me at dyriltheasiangamer@gmail.com.
It is preferable that I receive profiles of people who do not have +% damage on their weapons. I've been having some weird issues with those lately, and I just don't know why. Sometimes I feel like Blizzard is just trolling me.
Thanks, the sooner I finalize the formula, the sooner we can implement it to the site.
I love your calc but would like to see one more option calc for modified dmg vs demons, vs elites and vs demon elites (just to support Tyrael's Might ;p)
Paragon Level will be automatically added as you import.
Minimum physical damage will be automatically added to the new input fields under weapon information. Please note that the calculator already uses the item input fields for +minimum damage, so you do not need to add offhands or rings or whatever to those fields. Just the raw minimum physical damage should do it.
Damage Stat Details are no longer hidden and are always displayed on the right side.
I enabled hiding for Armor/Buffs still, just to make the calculator look less intimidating.
When you click Save Profile, a little green message will appear now.
The cons:
There's no way I can provide you the information for a theoretical weapon on the Auction House when it comes to minimum physical damage, especially if it has +% elemental and +% damage. There are decimal values associated to those items, so the best you can do is approximate with the new input fields for that.
The CSS is not perfect. While we were improving the math behind the tool, I thought it'd be nice to put some newfound skills to use and put it on its own page template. I messed around with a bunch of .php which I know nothing about and got something rolling. If I have time between now and Mists of Pandaria, I'll try and fix it up for more aesthetic appeal.
I'm still limited on API requests because I don't have an authentication key. I've sent them two e-mails already, and haven't heard back since. So if the Battle.net profile uploading doesn't work, you know why. As such, I urge you to use the Save/Load feature on the site, or even Export the Saved Profile to a TinyURL so you can mess with it from anywhere, instead of constantly importing from Battle.net. I don't want to get in trouble with Blizzard, even though they've bent me over unwillingly more often than I can count over the last decade.
Video tutorial and some links are out of date. When I have more time, I will update that too.
Thanks especially to the handful of people who sent me e-mails with their +% elemental damage information. I'm a poor Asian, in game and in real life, so there's no easy way to get in-game data otherwise (Battle.net profiles still show discrepancies from in-game for dual-wielders *cough*). I don't need anymore data, but if a wild Weedle appears, please notify me and I'll attempt to squash it ASAP.
Alright, after pulling some more hair from my head, I decided to forfeit and just go with Blizzard's implementation of calculating damage on their Battle.net profiles.
Damage numbers upon importing from Profiles should line up 100% (and if not, 99.99% in the hundredths). This change should only affect people who dual-wield, and have both +Elemental Damage Bonuses as well as +% Damage on their weapons.
Don't forget to select Enchantress/Scoundrel if you have one.
Your damage might look a little different in-game, but I rather be consistent with Profiles than in-game, than neither of the above.
People who dual-wield, and do not have +% Damage on their weapons: the calculator will display your in-game value, not the Battle.net Profile. I know it's a little counter-intuitive, but I wanted the code to remain as a fallback measure in the event their Web code guys change their minds.
Some set bonuses (i.e. Zunimassa's New Set) aren't being accounted for in the Battle.net Profiles, which will thus cause a miscalculation of your Paragon Level. After importing, manually adjust those values (Paragon Level in the top left, extra Stat field in Buffs/Skill Modifiers).
After all that said, and it's still off for you, you might have a hidden +minimum damage affix on a ring or neck. Just e-mail me your Profile or include it in a comment and I'll take a look at it. I can handle things on a case-by-case basis, but I'm feeling pretty confident.
I added a French translated version. Click the [FR] on the top-right of the calculator.
Note: I haven't studied French since like, 2004. But I remember some basic syntax. I tried my best.
Apologies for any awful translations. Blame Google Translate for those :Thumbs Up:
In other related news, if you'd like to help me translate in other languages, I could use a fluent (writing) Hungarian/Russian/German/Italian/Polish/Portugese person. Working on a Spanish version atm (this will be fun...) Drop me an e-mail: dyriltheasiangamer [ at ] gmail.com.

I discovered this funny little bug that seems to happen as soon as you log out:

Guess who also threw divs and position:absolutes around blindly in an effort to make something that looked nicer?!
That's right, we did!
