D3 Bonus XP Calculator

  • #1
I finally updated the D3 Bonus XP Calculator and made all the changes requested recently (i.e., about a year ago ;-)). Here it is:

    D3resource.com/xpcalc/

The formula was just derived from testing yesterday and my friends tried it out with a few numbers, but I'm in particular unsure about shrines - so let me know if you find any mistake.

New feature: It now stores font setting and all selected bonuses, so if you hit refresh it doesn't automatically reset to the default setting. It's also working in most recent browser versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer (if you are using an older browser update your browser, it's kind of the right move because of security issues anyways).

    Any comments welcome!

This is actually pretty sweet. Thanks!

I very much like the super simple UI, since anything too complicated and I'd be better off doing the calculation my self.

Wow, completely forgot to test in other browsers. Just checked IE, doesn't work there either. I'll try to fix it for FF/IE later. Site currently only works fine with Chrome.

Which values exactly? Keep in mind that this is for 1.08, I pulled all numbers out of the official patch notes and formulas of the most recent blue posts. But I'm happy to fix any math mistakes if you tell me what exactly is wrong.

mp1, single player, 0 NV, hellfire ring, 29% ruby, follower hellfire = current bonus XP of 196% on the calculator site.
I'm not in the PTR right now, but I recall last night it was 150.9% or somewhere around there.
They didn't seem to match up!

Well, according to the formula all these values are simply additive so we can even add up everything as we would've done it before: 25% for MP, 35% for HR, 29% for ruby, 7% from HR on follower makes up for an additional 96%, so 196% as the resulting XP. I don't know why it should've been 150.9% on PTR....

Hm. Yeah, maybe I'll add the option to switch font or just change it or create two different versions. As I said, I wanted to play around a bit, and that included messing with unusual fonts. Thanks :-)

I had it wrong. I just jumped on and it's actually 96%. I didn't realize yours includes the default 100% that you have without bonuses. I guess that just threw me off a bit.

Ah I see. Actually still good hint - I'll try to put some text on there as well to make sure that it's actually based on 100 %, "bonus" is maybe misleading here... lemme think about that. But thanks for checking back, glad it's not wrong, can't do any changes at the moment :-)

Thanks for sharing this basic and simple to use webtool.
  • #14
haha, I didn't check the tool until after I read through the posts and i LOVE the font. lol

    Thanks Bagstone!

Can you put the formula on your first post or in the program?

    [ 100%(base) + bonus from MP + helm ruby + ring] * [1 + Up to 0.75 from NV + Up to 0.30 for multiplayer]

JKlimek: I'll definitely add another font as alternative, not as a replacement. I like the font as well ;-) But I guess it's not that easy to read, agree to those who don't like it.

And yeah, I'll add the formula to the tool and some accompanying text as well.

Great site and simple for a numpty like me to use - thank you :-)

I am not sure how valid this suggestion is, or whether I just can't work out how to do it, but can we disable all items on player (no hellfire ring, leoric's, cain's or ruby?

Well, there's no "disable all items" button, but if you click on the item you want to un-equip, it'll just be disabled immediately :-)

I'm really looking for a new host. Weebly sucks. I want sessions and PHP and stuff like that (no worries, it won't be any more complex, but editing right now is a pain in the ass). If anyone knows a free PHP webhosting service, please tell me.

What exactly does REL and ABS mean? Sorry if it's a stupid question but I actually have no clue.
  • #19
No, it's not a stupid question... actually bad design (and missing explanation) on my side. I'm so lazy these days...

It means relative and absolute change in bonus XP if you activate/deactivate it. For example, if you put on a Cain Set it will give you +30% bonus XP; but since it's multiplicative to some other bonus XP factors, it'll increase your displayed bonus XP on your character "details" screen by 53% (one example with the default settings). This is the "absolute" change. However, the relative increase is much less - only 13.5%, since your bonus XP is already quite high to begin with (390%) and the change is not as big anymore. It's important to consider because if you lose more than 13.5% DPS by equipping a Cain Set (and you certainly do), it's not worth it and the 53% increase on the character screen might trick some people into making a non-beneficial choice.

I think it would be less confusing for players if you dropped the first 100% on the 'Current Bonus Xp' because that's not what you see in-game.
