but would like to switch out some gear, particularly looking for a new main hand with more crit damage and a socket. I run ACT3/MP7 with few if any deaths, so I wonder if some of my 8.4% LS can be sacrificed so I can get a reasonably priced main hand without LS. My resistances and damage reduction are both about 70% when buffed and my LoH is 563.
Well maybe the reason that no one answered is because no one has done theorycrafting around it.
Life steal depends so much on the enemies - you'll be fine in 99% of the fights, but some reflect damage mobs will instagib you.
I'd say just play around, switch to some gear without LS and see how it works out. My barb has LoH weapons (for tanking with low dps) and LS (for ww pwn), but I didn't do much research, it was just to minimize deaths in the first place. On my wizard, I occasionally try to reduce life steal just to find out that I don't want to play with less than 2.8%.
Is this one of those rhetorical questions? It's as much as possible right?
FYI there is a Barb passive that gives you 3% life steal if you'd rather go that route to afford a cheaper weapon.
It's obviously not rhetorical. Life steal or not can increase the prize for a weapon by several hundred millions.
And about the spec, he said he's enjoying his current spec, so switching skills doesn't seem to be an option right now. But he's already using Revenge and Blood Lust, which should compensate a fair amount of life steal...
Hi, guys. I asked and had answered this question in my Barbarian class forums. I temporarily switched out my belt and lost its 2.9 LS. All other things being equal, I had no problem with ACT3/MP7 so I assume that 5.5-6.0 LS with my build and 106K DPS is just fine. I'm in search of a new weapon, as soon as I can get some serious gold. Thanks for the help, guys.
Glad you figured it out, teoteodore - and thanks for posting your insight here. Always good if other people have similar questions later on can learn from your experiences.
@sfmf: It's 10%, someone actually did extensive study (initially to find out what type of damage it is, because no one was 100% sure about the "physical" type), and the results were that it is exactly 10% and physical, no matter what kind of damage it was initially. Don't remember if it was in this forum, on the official forums, or somewhere else.

Damage reflect reflects exactly 10% of the damage.
The rest you said is correct.
