[Ongoing] Act 2 Goblin Farming Worksheet

  • #1
Started this project a while back, but decided to wipe the slate clean with the new patches. This is for those that want to take a look at what to expect from high MF farming the goblins in act 2. This is just my data from solo farming, but others are welcome to save a copy of the sheet for their own use.

    What it tracks:
    Total number of runs
Which goblin type spawned in each run
    Overall goblin spawn rate
    Average loot type distribution
    Goblin type distribution
    ilvl of loot

    What you need to input:
    Goblin Type
    Common Loot Count
    Magic Loot Count
    Rare Loot Count
    Legendary Loot Count
    Set Loot Count
Gem Count (I only track Flawless squares)
    Tomes Of Secrets Count
    ilvl 61-63 Loot Count

The only sheet that needs user input is the "Running Tally" sheet, all others are calculated. I did this mainly for my own purposes, but have recently seen a lot of questions regarding this farm spot, so just thought I'd make this public.

If there is anything I've missed, botched, or otherwise should change/add; please let me know.

Edit: If you would like a copy of this for your own use, goto File > Make a copy.
Then clear out the "Running Tally" sheet and you can start tracking your runs with whatever MF% you have.

For informational purposes, you can put in your MF% on the "Totals" page.

I probably missed it, but is this assuming maxed out MF from gear?

    Thanks.

278% MF is what i'm currently running, its displayed on the totals page

So in your own personal opinion do you think it is a waste of time to gobo farm if you have below 200MF?
  • #5
below 200% MF, yeah probably a waste. even with 278% MF there are times when a gob won't drop a single rare item.

I should add that in the past few days of doing speed runs (aka, not tracking data), i've got 2 legendaries and a set item, as well as the 5 prop gloves recipe.

Pardon me in advance if I come across as anything other than curious. But why chose to do goblin runs in act II over an insanely easy, and fairly quick, act I clear?

With only 31x ilvl 63 drops, and 100x ilvl 62 drops to show for 91 kills over 300 games, for a farming route with a living, breathing person at the keyboard it feels lacking. Is there any tracking for what those 131 drops were? Half of those could have been grey items if your luck is anything like mine. =/

If you do not mind me asking, what is your average time per run like?

I don't use excel, so can't really help you there. You should be able to copy it and use it in google docs if you have a google account.

Easy answer as to why I do this instead of whole act farming is simply that I rarely have the time to invest into a whole act in one sitting. During the day I've got a ton of interruptions that take me away from the computer for up to an hour at a time.

The goblin run takes me ~1-2 minutes to complete so if something comes up its no problem to step away from the computer.

Also, while i've heard a couple rumors of jeweler designs and 5-6 prop BS patterns dropping in Act 1, I've yet to see any proof. Even only with a small chance of patterns dropping, i've managed to get all the flawless gem patterns, and quite a few 5 prop BS plans. The duplicates have sold well thus far, much better than the 4 prop stuff from Act 1 which sells on the AH for less than you'd get from a vendor.

Sorry for the long winded reply, the last thing to keep in mind is that this data has been wiped twice already (1.0.3a and 1.0.3b patches). To each their own, but I like this farming method for now, for the reasons stated above.
