I was messing around one day, and had a thought. Rare, but it happens.
I began to wonder if perhaps at higher difficulties, will the Champion and Rarespawn packs not only be harder, but will they also be more frequent?
Thoughts...? Opinions...?

I don't know if they will be more frequent given the scaling of difficulty. If you refer to the "you will die, we promise" video, it basically states that a champion/rare packs will own you. So running into them and costantly/frequently dying depending on you're build would be annoying to some people and exspensive in gold. However another thing to think of, is the new nephalem buff in inferno so they May spawn more frequently, who knows.
I think it would make Inferno a great deal more challenging if this was true. I'm not talking something along the lines of every pack being some super God creature pack, but right now in Normal I can play through the entire beta and see sometimes as few as five to six elite packs in the whole first runthrough for a new character (Rarely, admittedly. But it can happen!). I was wondering if the chance for a mob to spawn as a Rare or Champion would be increased by a flat percent or something in the later difficulties perhaps?

This is a good point about the fact the creatures will be stronger, for sure. However, I believe I did hear something akin to Blizzard stating that they want the game to be as hard as possible, while still being able to be beaten. Also that in Inferno, that there should be a good bit of skill required in defeating said mobs. It would make sense that more Rare or Champion packs would increase said difficulty, thus making the later difficulties more challenging. Especially if you have to worry about agroing even more packs while still trying to deal with the ones already pounding on your face.
Now, I'd like to think I'm pretty decent in that regard, and coming from my personal point of view, I don't think that it will be a matter necessarily of how often you run into those packs, but what their buffs are in comparisson to your class and abilities. Also, how cocky you decide to be, and whether or not you 'pull' a reasonable amount of mobs in one go, instead of agroing everything you can in an effort to try and AOE grind or something.

Ah, to be honest I'd never really payed that much attention to that aspect in Diablo 2, but then again, back then I was more into doing Baal runs to level up so I could 'PvP'.
If that's true that in Diablo 2 they spawned more frequently, I also hope that carries over into Diablo 3!

It will probably be solid champs/rares in Inferno.
*Sigh*

Sounds like fun. I'm with you there.

In diablo 2, champion and unique packs are dramatically more common in hell difficulty compared to lower difficulties. (Seriously, go back and play D2, its quite obvious) There's no reason to believe this will be any different in d3.
I'd guess they are more frequent in harder difficulties.
I had this doubt when reading the thread about the diference between champs and rares.
I found out on the internet that rares are the packs of blue monsters that are all the same affix, but only the last one killed drops the good loot. A champion is a bigger yellow monster with some affix sorrounded by "normal" minions with the same affix, only the yellow guy drops the good loot. Also, a Unique is a champion, may or may not have minions, that can only be found in one place (hence unique).
I think that's right, isn't it?
