You will get one cd-key which you will bind to one account. You can have more if you buy several diablo 3 cd-keys, but they have made the stash larger and items take less space. So you probably won't need to worry about your stash space.
I'm relatively sure that blues have stated you can only have one copy of Diablo III per account. If you had a SE and get a CE - it however overwrites the SE.
A difference between D2 and D3 that might help with this is that you can buy more space in your shared stash (with in-game gold). I'm not in the beta so I don't know how much space you can buy, but it should prevent us from needing mules. Also it will be easier to trade off gear that you don't need but is probably worth trading, whereas in D2 some of that gear was really hard to trade off.
Thanks for the responses guys :). Hopefully I don't run out of space! I am a pack rat and hold onto a lot of stuff lol. Have several mule accounts in d2.
I believe the current space allots to 710 2 slot items (swords, axes wands armor etc) per account. One slot items are things like gems, pots, rings and belts.

Compared to Diablo II where weapons took 8 spaces instead of 2 there is a hell of a lot more space in diablo III. And you can use all 10 of your characters to hold items on top of the enormous fully upgraded stash. Also you won't have to waste tons of inventory space holding charms like in Diablo II.

It's not a comparison to D2, it's a comparison to what Blizzard promised: a stash so big you wouldn't believe it. What's the point of only being slightly better than your 10-year old predecessor? And to top it off, your suggestion is that we GO BACK to D2's system of mules. Awesome.
When the last 2 bags become available we'll have 350 slots /2 = 175 items. Are 175 items really that small an amount? We're not even taking into account potions, belts and ingredients here. They only take up 1 slot.
Most of the items you do not need, will either be on another character, destroyed for materials, Sold on the gold or the real money auction house. The items should not stock up like in d2.
With the addition of the RMAH and the Gold AH, there is no reason to be a pack rat like you had to be in D2. You held on to things in D2 so you had more items to trade for that one item you were looking for. In D3, you can just sell the items in the game for money or gold and when it comes time to wanting the new item, you just keep checking the AH for it. You will want to keep some items for other characters, leveling gear, etc. But you will definitely not need even remotely the same amount of space we all used in D2, especially once you factor in getting crafting materials from items as well. Its just a different mentality that will go away once we are all atually playing the game.
You're pigeon-holeing yourself by not using other services that Blizzard have provided for your ease. You destroy items for materials to make better, more superior items. You sell them on the AH to level your Artisans, repair your gear and craft gems for it.
On top of those you will have 175 slots for items, not including character inventories.
You're the one limiting yourself.

One copy of Diablo III per battle.net account.
10 character per account.
Edit: And because it's one copy per battle.net account - you only get one "Account" per cd-key.
