Ah it's taken from "The Awakening" DnD description. So I wouldn't take it as canon. I don't believe the authors have anything to do really with Blizzard.
Not anymore, really. Those authors are probably long-gone now. I'm pretty sure Blizzard probably never even read over that stuff, probably went straight from the latest books and games.
Maybe I'm just too much of an optimist, but I think Adria will be on our side in D3. Now, I can't imagine why she split before the demons attacked Tristram, but as others have speculated maybe she didn't disappear at all, just went into hiding.
On a side note, I was reading the Diablo Wiki and noticed that it states that Deckard Cain "revealed" that she fled Tristram at some point. Maybe I'm just blind, but I don't see that anywhere in Cain's journal. Where are they getting their information?
Yeah, I read that somewhere, too, I believe. Maybe in Cain's journal? In-game somewhere? Did you try searching through Cain's dialogue for Diablo I and II?
Under the assumption that Adria is Leah's mom, i wonder if Adria has to do with all of the people in wortham being old except for leah? Maybe Adria took their youth for herself somehow.
Well, she was a noted powerful Witch, so there are an infinite amount of ways that she could have retained youth with her magic, limited only to the creativity of lore-writers at Blizzard HQ.
How about this...if Adria is an immortal being walking the Earth in disguise...what if she were Auriel, the Angel of Love? That might explain her desire to help the residents of Tristram, as well as her foreseeing the town's doom.
I don't think she was meant to have a age.
That makes her one mysterious NPC.
If only for the extra lore content and to fill in the mysteries surrounding her.
Speaking of, they should bring his back as well.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if griswold came back?
*Wait, so he says 'Stay awhile and listen'?
*Griswold is too awesome to just shove aside. One of the two to be NPC and then a boss.

Maybe even a step further- an incarnation of another world guardian that isn't Trag'Oul. That would be controversial and interesting.
