Φ Imperius - The true threat to Sanctuary?

  • #82
I already called this Archangel as Imperius last Wednesday. I demand... something... from you?

    Never mind.

Sorry I don't see anything about it in your post list. You should of made a thread about it. :(

Edit: I see it now, it's a shame you didn't make a thread.

mhmmmm Malthael is the Archangel of death, and i think he voted for the destruction of Sanctuary (Auriel and Ithrael for Saving it and Malthael and Imperius for destroying it, Tyrael had the finay say and he voted to save it) so it would make sense that there was a political deadlock and Malthael voted for destroyin sanctuary

Actually, Malthael vote was Abstain. He did not vote in pro nor against. Placing the global votes by the Angiris Council as follow:

    Imperius: Against
    Auriel: Pro
    Itherael: Pro
    Malthael: Abstain
    Tyrael: Pro

According to Rathma, when Imperius asked Tyrael if he would support him by voting against this would place the votation into a stalemate. A Draw. Rathma explained a Draw would also result in Sanctuary's destruction as judgement.

Tyrael gave his vote in pro of Sanctuary's survival, placing votes as:

    1 Against.
    1 Abstain
    3 Pro

Now that Tyrael has went out of his way to meddle in the affairs of Sanctuary though, do you think the council might listen to Imperius and see Sanctuary as nothing but trouble and a way to corruption through breaking the laws they have set forth?

Or possibly Imperius is just acting on his own?

if it was a draw Sanctuary would be destroyed... lemme ask Was Imperius an important angel? since his vote even alone is enough to challenge Auriel's And Ithrael

Yea but Rathma said that if it would have been

    2 Against
    1 Abstain
    2 Pro

so Draw, they would have destroyed it.

I am not in the Creative Design team to know that, and if I was part of that team, I wouldn't probably be able to answer. Remember those brain bomb implants comic of Penny Arcade fame.

My opinion here could be twofold. It is possible the Angiris Council could have seen the affairs of Diablo II and Lord of Destruction as a threat to the High Heavens. The edyrem in possession of the Burning Hells is a threat to everything. And now without the Worldstone in place, and Mephisto's pact broken -- there is no barrier against the Burning Hells from taking the edyrem as their prize.

The Angiris Council might find Sanctuary's life forfeit. Or, maybe Itherael and Auriel still think the edyrem should have a chance to prove their worth -- and Imperius has decided to take action without the Angiris Council's support.

Blizzard could go both ways here. However, Imperius going rogue would be far more interesting. He would be going against the Angiris Council's decision, with no mercy. That type of scenario would set a big war in Sanctuary, and still give the High Heavens the edge of redemption trying to help Sanctuary's heroes. I like that idea better.

    This is the final score.

    Imperius: Against survival of Sanctuary.
    Auriel: Pro survival of Sanctuary.
    Itherael: Pro survival of Sanctuary.
    Tyrael: Pro survival of Sanctuary.
    Malthael: Null

So in essence it was 3 for the survival of Sanctuary, 1 for it's destruction, and 1 undecided/null.

Something like that, I believe when Imperius asked Tyrael about it, Tyrael decided to let Sanctuary survive.

Not that I know of. You'd have to ask someone more lore savvy for that, maybe try in the Lore Questions thread?

Ah, well... I don't think they really have a "boss" but their may possibly be differences in power. I have no clue.
