What do we actually know about imperius? shit all.

But I doubt hes evil ;)

    Edit:

    Official Blizzard Quote:
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet from the heavens strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary To defend the mortal world against the rising powers of The Burning Hells – And even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.

    This actually sounds like Inarius.

    That actually sounds like Tyrael.

That's also a possiblity, but I will stick with Inarius for reasons ill keep to myself.

Both is posible, but it does make a lot of sense tbh. But its strange beacuse Cain is reading from somewhere ? I mean he is saying that the first sign will appear in heawens and most likey then will battle beging on Sanctury between angels and demons. So we do know imperius is the 1st that charges allways. I think he is imperius but we wont fight him in 1/4 most likely later in game. His mission is either killing tyrael or starting the war vs demons.
  • #471
If the meteor really was tyral, that that would be extremely cool, however, we have scince seen from the beta that many evils are awoken from it arrival. Would an angels presence do this to the dead. In addition to that. The game is called diablo and as far as we have seen in the way of blizzard anouncments, we dont know how he is comming back. However I think somewhere at sometime blizzard has said that we will fight diablo in this game. (dont quote me on that,)

I wounder if it is possible that Diablo is perswaiding or possesing some of the angels on the counicl to start a war with sanctuary. Becuase as uptight as imperious is, i doubt he would just kick his brother out of heaven unless there was some demonic infulluence.

"And. at the End of Days. Wisom shall be lost
as Justice fall upon the world of men.
    Valor shall turn to Wrath-
and all Hope will be swallowed by Despair.
Death, at last, shall spread its wings over all-
    as Fate lies shattered forever."

I believe that "Wisdom" refers to Malthael who mysteriously disappears. "Justice" refers to Tyrael which is why I think he's the meteor that falls in Tristram (It states in the book of Cain that even angels' powers can awake the dead into undead). "Valor" represents Imperius... So I expect him to either be the final boss of Diablo III or the main boss of the Diablo III expansion. "Hope" is Auriel; she opposes the destruction of humans so somehhow she's taken out of the picture. Not sure who "Death" is but I may hazard a guess that it's actually Malthael who, through looking at his cup of wisdom, feels that humanity is a threat. Lastly, "Fate" embodies Itherael who is somehow defeated.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that high heavens will have a civil war over whether humans should be destroyed or not. Ithereal and Auriel would be opposed to this and they end up losing to Imperius and Malthael.

Not much input I can put into this post other than it being a very well constructed post, and it kind of makes me want to purchase the novel and read them myself

Their's a very distinct definition between upturned and downturned blades. E.G. If I have the blade pointed down it's not upturned at all. the main part of the weapon is pointing down.

Upturned would suggest the blade is pointing toward the head, downturned the blade pointing to the ground.

The NATURAL way to hold a sword depends on the style you have been taught to fight in and the weapon used, for example. A longsword would be held with the blade pointing down or horizontally whereas a two-handed sword would be held with the blade upwards to strike down.

Different weapons have different way's of being used, hence the slashing/blunt/stabbing damage you get in most RPG's. Their is REALLY not one specific natural way to hold a blade. Look at daggers or Samurai swords and then look at Sabre's or Long Swords or Fencing blade... -_-

I just figured who is Despair. In Diablo 2, Izual was found in plains of Despair. ;) Now, Who´s Death?

Notice the crest on his chest looks VERY close to the one in the concept picture also. Sort of like a star.

(Btw I purposely haven't updated any of my views on this because I wanna see how right my initial thoughts were four years ago.) :P

I have a question that I'm not sure was brought up before. Since there is a council, can an angel just go rogue and turn vigilante without the rest's approval? So even if Imperius wanted to destroy Sanctuary, woudln't he have to go through the council? I understand they all have different roles, and some might be in fact more powerful than others. Or are they? I understand there is a question section and all, but given this is a subject that mainly attracts my attention and you have layed out Imperius so well and detailed in one page I decided to post my thoughts here. If need be I'd move the reply to the proper section. Sorry in advance.

proly the most thoughtout and well put together conspericie/story prediction threads. I actually agree with you about 99% cant wait to see what actually unfolds, i mean it is blizzard for all we know the cuase for diablo to be awakened could be some pony cult, but thats just wishful thinking. :)

Yes! Yes! I like it all- I tried saying that there were two angels in that artwork but no one would believe me. It's nice to see that there are still people with eyes on these forums :D

We know that angels can't stay in sanctuary for long (Act 3 cinematic of D2 when Tyrael says that the power that holds him to Sanctuary is fading fast and he can't stay)...so how is it that Imperius could come to Sanctuary and stay while retaining power?

That is what the soulstones did for the Prime Evils... They allowed them to anchor to the mortal plane and retain great amounts of power

Any ideas on how Imperius could do this? Maybe a shard from the Worldstone? Or maybe it isn't needed any longer since the Worldstone is destroyed?

Of course! The whole plan of Hell was to fight Heaven straight-on, but until the Worldstone was destroyed, they couldn't do it. Now they can use Sanctuary as the battle field since there are no restrictions.

What do you mean? Hell and Heaven fought each other straight on in the Pendemonium Fortress area many many times over.

As far as I can remember they're all basically on equal ground in terms of power, but of course that doesn't mean an angel can't go against the council's wishes. Tyrael has.

While I think Imperius will attack Sanctuary.
It would fit with an upcoming expansion (Imperius being the new last boss... I hope we'll have 4 new act and not just 1 that we finish in 1h...)
But on the other hand I can't really understand why he'd attack us past DiabloIII
Because of some mistakes the world stone has been destroyed and we're part of demons. However we did within a century what they've tried to accomplish in 3000years. Which is "Destroy the demons". We have detroyed all the 7. Shouldn't he thanks humanity for that ? The war they tried to win for ages has is over, and won, by humanity.

They should have attacked us before, when there was still 2demons remaining (well 3 if we count diablo...) not when they're all dead...
They could have accused us of the worldstone destruction making the heavens vulnerable or wathever. They could have accused us of helping the demons.

Can someone enlight me =/ Because I do not understand why we're going to be attacked by him

    That doesn't answer :P

I'm also wondering what will happens if there's no demons... afterall the balance has been shattered.

Well there will always be demons and angels. You can't kill them all. We know angels come from the Crystal Arch though which could potentially be destroyed I guess. I imagine demons have something similar.

From what i understand, the Great evils were spawned from the body of Tathamet and Anu was everything good. The crystal arch creates angels which is the spine of Anu. I'm not sure if there is any part of Tathamet still around to create demons, they just kind of come back through infecting people.

Now, the wings of death part of that little excerpt.
in the images put up earlier today with the menu of the cinematics from the CE DVD, the one was named "The Prime Evil". I speculated that, Leah(Diablo) wants to use the black soulstone to capture the essence of Belial and Azmodan, the last remaining great evils besides diablo himself, and use the crystal arch to reform Tathamet. So if he were to succeed in doing this, Tathamet being the big scary 7 headed dragon that he is will surely spread his wings over sanctuary.

I doubt this will happen, maybe it will be something for an expansion.
