Ok, my theory is "The Butcher Demon" in Diablo 1 is Darrick Lang's father, and who the hell is Darrick Lang? tip: the leading character in diablo novel "the black road".
Quote:
The Black Road story expands over a year. Kabraxis isunleashed at some point at the beginning of the book, and over a yearlater (at the end of the book) is defeated. Towards the end of thatyear's gap it is stated that Tristram was recently destroyed by Diablo. It is also stated by Deckard Cain that Tristram was corrupted fornearly four years. So Tristram fell before Kabraxis was released, butthe actual Diablo I game where Tristram is 'saved' happens in the middle of this novel, before Kabraxis is defeated.
Which means the story of the black road happens almost at the same time with Diablo 1.
Darrick Lang's father is a butcher. Given the fact that his wife used to cheat on him and his abuse Darrick, he had every reason to fall to hell. Although Hillsfar is a little bit far away from tristram by road, which includes climbing Hawk's Peak, gets across Dyer River and all, one can easily reach the corrupted city by water. Plus, it is mentioned more than once in the story that Darrick Lang never came back to his family after joining Westmarch Navy,
which gives his farther more than enough time to go to tristram if something evil draws him there, and by something evil, of course, I mean diablo.
Very far fetched. I do not believe "mortals" can turn into demons?

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather."
Wow. That's quite the theory. I personally don't think he's anything else but one of Inarius' former followers, but this was amusing to read nonetheless.
The council members were turned into demons by using a shard of Mephisto's soulstone.
You still have yet to show me the original source of that info.
I just kind of thought of the Butcher as something slightly more ancient. I don't think it's even possible though that it's Darrick's father simply cause the Butcher was conceived long before any of The Black Road was conceived. And I know they've changed lots of lore as dated as Diablo 1 to make things fit more with Diablo 3 and the Sin War Trilogy, but let's face it; that's not the case here.
Well, perhaps not mortal become demon, but possessed by demon. And as we know, the demons could somehow retained the knowledge and skills of their hosts.
The Demon then had the priests work spells to shatter the Soulstone into seven shards, breaking the mystic seal and freeing the Lord of Hatred. Mephisto drove the six smaller shards into the left palms of six Zakarum archbishops who were then charged with bringing him nourishment in the form of human sacrifices while running their temple.
We of course know that humans can become demons. Whether they are a different kind of demon rather than the purest of hellspawn, I don't know. But all of Inarius' followers, who were all mortals of Sanctuary, were turned into Overlords who were demons.
Either way you are just connecting dots that just are not there.

Shows that the Council Members are half Demon/Half Human in form.
It must've been only the left side of their bodies that were turned "Demon-like" from the Soulstone shards.

Watching 240 guys talk trash about cavaliers is like two retards having a slapfight over a sippy cup.
I geuss this is kind of a lame thing to notice, but did anyone else notice that the Council's shards are red while Mephisto's is blue? Isn't it supposed to be that Mephisto's soulstone's shards, the smaller ones, were inserted in to the Council members (while Mephisto retained the larger, I think)?

Very interesting though.

You can see it in the palm of the now at least half demon council member here.

So it is possible through immense corruption to become a demon I'd say. Dunno if that's the Butcher though.
