I thought the Worldstone not only supressed the power of the Nephalem, but also hid Sanctuary from Heaven and Hell. If Sanctuary is hidden, how could the Prime Evils be banished to Sanctuary or how did Tyrael know of Sanctuary? Am i wrong or is that a plot hole?
Or maybe the Worldstone just made Heaven and Hell unable to invade?

"And the Evil that was once vanquished shall rise anew! Wrapped in the guise of man shall he walk amongst the innocent, and terror shall consume they that dwell upon the earth! The sky shall rain fire, and the seas will become as blood! The righteous shall fall before the wicked, and the lord of creation shall tremble before the burning standards of Hell!"

From the wiki entry, the conflict that started when Lilith betrayed Inarius appears to have weakened Trag'Oul to the point where he could no longer cloak Sanctuary.
The Prime Evils are seeking something in Sanctuary, though it's not clear exactly what. It has been said that humans have the potential to be stronger than both angels and demons in Sanctuary, so perhaps that has something to do with it. The Lesser Evils managed to overthrow the Prime Evils and banish them to Sanctuary. In Diablo II it's revealed that they orchestrated the whole thing so they could use the power of the soul stones.

Correct. Ever since the events of the Sin War, both Heaven and Hell have known of Sanctuary, but haven't invaded.

The goal that has always been states is the obvious one: The Three wish to tip the scales against heaven in their favor. Seeing as they've been fighting for pretty much an eternity, any new forms of power are something they try to grab, and so far Sanctuary is the only new power.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.

Strange idea just popped into my head. Maybe Baal corrupted the worldstone so it would have a different effect. Instead of dampening the powers of human and keeping them from reaching their potential, it would have alowed them full access to their powers, and it would have changed them into demons that the Prime's could have used.

Kind of a moot point, however, since it was immediately destroyed. Whatever the effects of it bewing corrupted would have been...there would be no way of knowing.

We'll probably find out in D3. I figure Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone to keep the transformation from happening.
