As you all remember, in the end of diablo 2, lord of destruction, Tyrael threw his blade into the worldstone, breaking apart because of its corruption. you saw as it exploded, millions of shards were made. Perhaps one of these shards had struk Tyrael, and tainted him evil. If the mountain was not destroid by the power of the worldstone, perhaps other deamons had grabbed these shards and in some form of wishing for power, took these shards and used them to become even more powerful. Of course, i doubt just one shard would be powerful enough to actually aquire a large amount of power.
so Perhaps diablo 3 is about collecting thse shards? or perhaps its about defeating the corrupted Tyrael? If you consider Tyrael becomming corrupted, then maybe he corrupts other angels and creats a powerful army. It would be a war between the angels and Arch angels. Or perhaps its a war between, Angels, ARch angels and Demons becoming powerful? Apparently blizzard could put in alot of things into Diablo 3. This is just a theory. Comment please in any flaws and ill think about what to consider.

Possible, but there is no proof that the shards retain any of baal's corruption or any power at all after the worldstone was smashed. Personally I am not a fan of this theory or any theory that make Tyrael now a bad guy, Why is it always Tyrael? Sure the falle angel concept is cool but the diablo series already did that. Izual. Diablo is fairly unique and don't repeat itself. We have enough good guys turning bad in the diablo series, Arch Bishop Lazarus, King Leoric, his knights, The Council of the Zakarum, the rest of the Zakarum, Bartuc, Izual, The Warrior, The Rogue, The Sorcerer, Griswold. We don't really need another one.
Collecting a bunch of shards sounds like a Legend of Zelda thing. Diablo is primairly, a man (or woman) vs. Monster type scenario. You have you hero (you) and he or she is traversing a world hunting down a monster (Diablo).
There is already a war between the forces of the High Heavens and the armies of the Burning Hells. It's called the Sin War. It never stopped. It is still going, it's just not raging like it once was.

But you should still consider a higher evil lord to rule the deamons. You cant just think that after teh 3 were defeated, the forces of hell still stand a chance do you? if heaven still manages to be alive, even when the 3 were their, then Heavens forces cant be THAT weak. So if the 3 are gone, how powerful are the forces of hell now?
There are no Lesser evils now and there are no Prime evils, there is no Izual left. What other powerful deamon is left? There may be a few good guys that went bad but none that were seriously powerful enough. Even with the concept of Izual, it still seems like a popular idea. If it is repeated, it would still have the support. Are there really enough options to consider other than a WHOLE rewright of Diablo 2 story signature?

The most powerful demons in the Diablo universe are the Prime Evils. That's why they are called that. Prime from the latin Primus meaning first or top.
There are no Lesser evils now
Your need to be re-educated, ever here of Belial Lord of Lies and Azmodan Lord of Sin. They are two lesser evils, and are still very much alive, as are their armies.

Elfen, you're german right? I guessed from the "Angel of Death" status and you seem to make very small errors in english once in a while. I was just wondering.
I bet you a million dollars that the next Diablo game has a quest or mission that requires you to do something with a "Worldstone Shard" and close off a demon portal or some shit.

I am not german, or at least not prodominently german. I do a lot of mutlitasking, I am often posting in several threads on several forums at the same time as I am having multiple conversations of both MSN and AIM, and emailing my dad who is in Japan.
So forgive me if I make a few mistakes, no one is perfect.

good god get over your sorry little ass. Its a fuckin theory, if you dont like it, then go ahead and cry over spilt milk. What are you gonna do if Diablo 3 does end up being about that? shoot yourself? go ahead. And elfen, no need to give me that shit about what i said. im sorry im too damn lazy to do research in the book. My friend who knew more about this book told me that there were only 4 lesser evils and I never played Diablo 1.
holy shit people. Smooth.

If you aren't willing to accept criticism then I suggest you don't bother posting things next time.

You don't need to read the books to find that out. Both Belial and Azmodan are mentioned in Diablo II.
I would recommend playing Diablo 1.
Why does people have to make a new Tyrael gets corrupted by the worldstone theory thread, we have tons ofthem here, Just go revive one.
And if a theory can be disproved in a second by lore I highly doubt Blizzard would use it. We know there are two Lesser Evils left unkilled. I seriously doubt Blizzard would make them dissappear.

If Tyreal is evil its not because he's Tyreal I could see him being Belial the lord of lies and Diablo II when you kill the Prime Evils it was just a fraud or hoax. The goal was to get the worldstone destroyed, possibly to remove the protection or w/e it did to allow the real prime evils to enter the world freeing them from their soulstones. basicly making what you did in DII a masquerade.
That's a decent Idea, though It'd really bother me to find out that everything I did in Diablo 2 and LoD was just being led along by evil to destroy the world.
Many of you do not realize that the entire Diablo concept is based on underground Catholic, Judais, and CoS mythology. There's definitely more to the story. Even though the "Sin War" books provided a story line, the Burning Hells and High Heavens provide for much more to be able to be told.
Baal, or Bael as he is found in mythology has the legs of a spider, and 3 heads, one of the cat, a frog, and a Human.
"In this unholy hierarchy, Baal (usually spelt "Bael" in this context; there is a possibility that the two figures aren't connected) was ranked as the first and principal king in Hell, ruling over the East. According to some authors, Baal is a Duke, with sixty-six legions of demons under his command.
During the English Puritan period, Baal was either compared to Satan or considered his main assistant. According to Francis Barrett, he has the power to make those who invoke him invisible, and to some other demonologists his power is stronger in October. According to some sources, he can make people wise, and speaks hoarsely.
While his Semitic predecessor was depicted as a man or a bull, the demon Baal was in grimoire tradition said to appear in the forms of a man, cat, toad, or combinations thereof. An illustration in Collin de Plancy's 1818 book Dictionnaire Infernal rather curiously placed the heads of the three creatures onto a set of spider legs."
