yeah we had rare drops left and right in normal as well, just not a single one (not kidding here) on nightmare. any boss would just drop blacksmithing or jewelcrafting plans and blue items. not a single yellow one off a boss.
we were kinda wondering how we are supposed to get ready for hell if we dont get any good loot in inferno
Mother of god. How'd you get 2100?
I'm a level 14 noob wizard and I find the Wizard class to be a little underwhelming.
My friend is a level 18 WD and he's obliterating everything in his path with 1 or 2 hits with his little minions tanking everything for him.
Any tips for a newbie Diablo player on how to achieve higher dmg for Wizard?
First tip: Forget all stereotypes about wizards / sorcs. Int is your friend, yes, but by no means your God. There are many things more helpful than it.
The best upgrade you can get, is a high DPS weapon. All your spells are based off weapon damage, therefore take the highest DPS one hander available. In 90% of the cases it will outdps a 50-100 int wand.
I've actually used "real" weapons more often than wands, knives, and so on. Ask around in your group. No barb or monk will want an Int-rolled sword or mace, so you can easily pick them up and use them. My advice? Find the highest DPS weapon with a socket, and put in the highest ruby you can find. Boom: huge dps increase. If the weapon has int, IAS, or + damage on it, all the better.
Secondly, try to glean as much +damage as you can. Early game, +2-4 damage (or so) rings abound, and they are a HUGE help throughout all of normal.
Increased attack speed is also very good for your dps.
Next, put on elective mode. You choose your spells, not the preformated Blizzard idea. To make things simple, pick out an AoE, (I chose +large runed disintegrate + arcane slow passive, to help group), then a single target (runed ray of frost is decent for that, nice damage at high dps). Then choose your assists. Teleport for personal assist, for example, and slow time for group (Slow time has saved my group from wipes more times than I care to remember.) Next thing, it's good to have a AP regenerator. For this, choose the passive that will allow you to gain AP when using a signature spell, then rune your choise so it hits multiple targets, or goes through targets. Lastly, something that will make your dps explode, is runed magic weapon. Remember how +damage is extremely useful? Well when you rune that spell, it's an automatic +15%... Where I'm at, currently, that's like 350 dps in itself.
Basically spam either your aoe or single target, depending on what you're facing, and spam your signature spell when out of AP, in order to regen it faster. Keep magic weapon up, and use teleport and slow time accordingly.
I rolled with a decent group, so I could go a little further, and use glass cannon without an armor for example. The rewards are great but so is the risk. You have to judge that.
Sorry if I rambled on, haven't had much sleep recently. Good game
Wow, thank you for all the information.
I didn't think you'd explain it in such depth for a noob new player like me.
Thank you kind sir, I will take your advice in and remember them carefully.
Good luck in your search for a worthy NM group.
