Hey guys I'm new here and had a question so i joined.
I've have played Diablo II pretty much since it came out. Right now i only play single player. I've beaten the game through hell difficulty twice but i was looking for something new. The fist thing that came to my mind was playing on Battle.net which i have never done before, not sure why, i have just played single player the whole time. I've read a couple of posts and it seems like people still play. I also still play on patch 1.11 so i would have to update it but from the patch notes it looks like it would be more enjoyable than it already is. I guess what my question is what are some pros and cons switching from playing singleplayer to playing online (not open battle.net). If you need some more info that i forgot to mention i will gladly post more. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.
Oh my god, dude, SO many people still play.
If you're worried about a lack of players, then fuck right off, lots play, so no worries :D.
As for pros, I'd say that it's really a whole new game. You get the economy, which is by far my favorite part. I always loved building up wealth and trading shit off on B-net. Course', you're going to be at a disadvantage for a while trying to figure out what is worth what.
For cons, there are some real douchebags on there, watch it.
Though, if B-net isn't your thing, maybe consider trying a mod?
There's Median XL, Eastern Sun, Zy El, Battle For Elements, and a whole shitton more.

I have neglected Diablo for too long so, if you happen to see me, feel free to join.

Ladder is more competitive, there is more trading, and frankly it's more fun.
edit: Plus, there are lots of new people on ladder.
Non ladder is generally for people who don't want to stop playing their old chars.

lol i was a non-ladder junkie, i'll admit... man i wanna get back into d2 so bad but i gotta have like at least 5 people would play as much as i want to play regularly...
battle.net has lots of people. You can also meet some new friends. I personally cant stand playing many games by myself in single player (Except d1) Which is why im having trouble accepting the new way sc2 is heading but anyway yea I would definetly try Battle.net

Ladder is ranked, non-ladder is unranked.

EDIT: i'd do ladder... that's no big deal.

Dupes (though not nearly as commonplace as last ladder, and I haven't seen any yet this ladder).
Pros:
Lots of people to play with, duel, trade with.
IMO, the pro outweighs the cons, though, if you know what to do and what not to do. Like sitting in public channels- bad idea. Too many spam bots.
