Ehm, yeah, I actually read the whole thread before posting. I noticed that the relative ease with which anybody can create a unique item with a hero editor wasn't directly addressed, so I decided to do it on my own.
I meant the list from where the game engine takes the uniques. If it's not there, there's no way the game magically created it for you. If you really aren't joking, I guess it was a prank from your friend.

We don't have these editors on our pc,s ... The whole point here is that we found it legit, and then we searched all over the net for the upgrade (to exceptional armor) that's wen we noticed that it was no were...... Look most of wat you have said has been said, by phrozendragon, and hzurg, I get the whole list thing, not creating random rares . We are not forcing the item on, simply stating we found it....... Yawn(3am here) I think this is just pointless, thanks for the thought,
and theres the fact that uniques in d2 cannot spawn off a item with a preset unique already. This means each armor or weapon can only have one unique due to a column in the uniqueitems.txt file
THEREFORE, the item you have is hacked.

A hundred thousand worlds, ten hundred thousand wars. There is no respite, there is nowhere to hide. Across the galaxy there is only war.
the unique name is known on another item
the unique modifiers are new and not found on any other items
the unique id (89188932?) is known
the unique is claimed to have dropped from act 5 norm. (unknown clvl atm 22?)
the unique is "spawned" in the new patch
the unique is not found in any text files nor is deactivated.
unless you have something to counter these facts, your argument of it being legit is invalid. in addition, playing on lan provides a way to hack/cheat/drop items.

I OBJECT!!! Thread will be closed and I will find this armor on Battle.net to disprove your accusations against my client, whom isn't paying a cent, although an emerald or two would be nice.

/players 8 in a lan game? You are digging your own grave man
How so? Certain commands are built into the game, I think this came out in patch 1.12 (correct if I'm wrong) just let's us play as if we 8 players, and yes does work on lan. ?
I could understand, if, say, somehow mods got put on the wrong item type by some glitch, but they're completely new from the other unique of the same name. Also, I have yet to see or hear of a single person on Battle.net that encountered a similar situation this season, much less one with any glitched gear to back up a claim. That's thousands upon thousands of players, creating hundreds of thousands of games every thirty minutes, across a handful of realms. The odds that- no, the coincidence that- someone in a LAN game, which is completely open to third-party hacking utilities, *happens* upon an item that makes no statistical sense, even from a bugged or glitched point of view, seems so perfectly outlandish to me that I cannot take this thread seriously.
We've actually been talking about this all day on MSN, and here, and I've considered every excuse you have to offer, which number very small, and find no concrete grounds for pronouncing this a real, glitched, or bugged item, and believe thoroughly that this is a hack, and furthermore that you are either lying and made the item yourself, or someone in your LAN party created the item and dropped it in the field for you to pick up, in a purposely deceitful manner.
I have to admit this is hilarious to follow, and it's cool seeing so many members responding and getting involved, but I cannot see how this is possible from any angle.
I STILL OBJECT!!! We don't even know if somebody found the item and didn't even think about it. How often do you hear somebody who thought about what they found and actually sought out if it is legit or not? Probably near zilch. I don't stop to think if I found a weapon or armor that is new. I doubt others will.

Do you even realize how many people are MFing at any given minute? Do you realize how many of them have done it for years on end? What are the odds that they wouldn't notice something that weird? Exceedingly slim. Very few items, and almost none at that level req give auras on equip. Actually, I can't think of a single one.
(Edited)
I'd also like to add that this assumes that the attributes on the item in question are possible. They are not. The game can't assemble random stats like that, or at least not anymore. It only interprets preset specifications in txt files/mpq files. Therefore, this could only be possible, in the slimmest way, if the attributes on this armor were the same as Iceblink's normal attributes. They are completely different, and random, and not from any other item in the game.
I agree with the rodent. I might be able to believe that nobody would notice a new unique if it was really bad, but I refuse to believe that anybody would find a low level armor with an aura on equip and 8 to attributes, and not wonder why they have never heard of it before. It seems like at least somebody would look up unique armors, realize this one is not listed anywhere and start asking questions.
1.) As Seth has pointed out, the fact that this is the first and only claim anyone's heard of a new item (aside from the Essences) in 3-4+ months of 1.13 beta and live just doesn't add up. Someone would have found something by now.
2.) Although there are items that have multiple uniques ( Sacred Armor, Phase Blade, etc.), Splint Mail isn't one of them.
3.) If it were a legit item, there's no reason that Blizzard would name it with a name of another existing unique item, or that it wouldn't exist in the game files.
Also, to the person who was asking about auras on equip, there are no Affixes that grant auras to magical/rare items. They exist purely on uniques/rune words, so it couldn't be a glitched rare or something.
Screw this, I have a serious "Itch" that needs a large "fork" to scratch it. I'm done with arguing, and will be on Battle.net after my show is over at 11 tonight.
