fun builds that can solo hell

  • #1
I decided to dust off my copy of d2:lod and play some more... I've literally played since it came out, minus a few breaks, and I would really like a build that is fun to play but will survive alone in hell... I do not want to do a hammerdin... the most fun I ever had with a character was back in the days where a javazon could just destroy everything in its path, but I know they aren't nearly as powerful now.. can anyone recommend a build that is fun to play, and doesn't require the best of the best gear to be viable in hell? or am I stuck doing a hammerdin? prefer to play a javazon if possible...

Viable in hell, strong with cheap gear, not a hammerdin, and fun to play?

hmm... not tons of choices, but I'd say Lightning Sorc, or summon necro, but the summon necro is kinda boring imo...

Ugh, yeah i wish I could offer you some better advice but "fun" depends on personal preference. I myself find orb sorcs to be fun to play but not quite hell viable unless you branch a bit into fire. They are cheap to make too!
-Also i find hammerdins boring :P

The summon necro is boring, but i happened to uber run solo with my summon necro and that always put a smile on my face :)

As for other builds that can solo hell with cheap gear...a trapper with the right merc gear to handle the lightning immune monsters...zealots can uber solo as long as you have leech gear on...i have a bowzon that has "medium" expensive gear on that can solo hell...

I guess it all comes down to your liking of playing...

My Frenzy barb was easily killing diablo and baal in hell @ lv 83 solo..... not the quickest kills by any means but a serious melee tank.

Maxed frenzy, ww, BO.... natural resistance and good resist armor is key.

I'm looking for a build that can kill everything without a problem, doesn't need to be a fast killer or fast mover (I like challenges), and easy to obtain gear. It can be a build for a Necromancer, Sorceress (No Lightening), or Amazon (Bowazon).

Wind druid works fairly well for that. It is a bit slow but with dual elements and bear + mercenary you can do OK. Blizzard sorceress can do very well, but you get the shaft on cold immunes.

If you want something that really can kill just about everything, go with a barbarian. Dump a couple of points into berserk, and you can kill every monster in the game except a few zombies in A2 and some beasts in A3. Nice and challanging without good gear too :P

You can also do a hammerdin, but they are actually pretty boring IMHO because of how powerful they are. Their attacks bypass magic resistance for demons & undead, leaving only the least popular monster type, animals to resist their damage.

Make a melee assassin. You can get some insane charges going to kill guys, its more challenging to count the number of orbs on a skill like Phoenix Strike but done right you can kill anything.
