After a week of diablo, i got some decent gear and started trading. Within an hour, i learned that runes are now the currency. What the fuck is up with that? Why did runes become the currency? Also, when diablo 3 comes out, if runes are the currency, i will immediately quit the game. Its stupid that some rock is worth more than an item that can actually do damage.

I would help the homeless if i only knew where they lived
Runes are just the medium. The items are also worth something, depending on the item more. For instance, a Griffon's Eye Diadem is worth a ton of HR's (high runes), so it has more value than a single rune. They're just the price-relations standard. If it wasn't runes it would be something else, like WoW's gold standard or something.
Nah, a SoJ is about 2 HR's. Or maybe it was 1.5 ... I can't be sure. That's assuming prices this ladder opening are the same as last ladder's opening. You'd probably be better off trading on jsp, anyway.

why is money currency, why dont we trade houses and food and cars instead of using paper money...
dude the rock has some writing on it, its gotta be worth more than the ring! haha its kinda weird. i played the game when it first came out and the guidelines for items always switch. recently it has been more runes based since the coolest items for beginning are runeword items, but remember that it all depends on what the loot is. In the beginning the best was items and sojs. eventually it all changed into like hacked and duped items such as hex, etc. than it came bak to sojs, than to runes and sticked with runes for a while.
