But he assumed his true form after the scene with Mephisto in A3. If I am correct, Baal never did assume his true form.
Well since Baal has 4 legs and a completely different look in A5 as he does earlier in the game I'd say you can safely assume that if that's his true form he assumed it.
wow thats a little brutal "bastardization" of true history but none the less its true:confused:
Exactly. It's true, people are just afraid of admitting it.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Diablo games, but not because of there historical "accuracy". It's like playing Prince of Persia for the historical "accuracy" of running through time.
So much mythology is incorporated into Diablo, it is truly incredible if you really research it.
People should research how Satan and Lucifer are different

I think Diablo in Sanctuary is a parallel to the Devil in our world but they could be different, just similar.
We can draw parallels between Sanctuary and Earth but they are different
I thought none of the prime evils assumed their 'truest form' as they all were still inside mortal bodies. They got close, very close I think but they can only be in TRUE form when theyre in spirit form.... right?
Xazax is it his true form, he changes from a shadow back into the praying mantis demon in Legacy of Blood. He doesnt have a mortal host
Andariel and Duriel must be in their true form, theyre summoned to Sanctuary because theyre on the side of the Prime Evils and theyre not inside hosts
The three prime evils were in true form just after the Dark Exile, they were exiled to Sanctuary and did not have bodies so I'm assuming they would of been like Xazax. Shadows which could shapeshift and materialize
Mephisto says to Diablo " assume your true form brother " or something like that, I dont think that necessarily means his really TRUE form, but far closer to it than the Dark Wanderer which was still for the most part human looking
People should research how Satan and Lucifer are different
What does a satan have to do with Diablo/Lucifer/Devil? The word "satan" means advisary, not Lucifer, or at least it did when the Christian religion began.
As for Diablo, we can take two routes, either we take him as the fallen angle, which would mean he would be more like tyreal, or we take him as the Christian Ripoff, which would mean he's more like this:
i think diablo is the same in diablo 1 and 2. they both have the same body shape and form. and yes look at cinimatics and when they open the portal to hell mephisto i think says take your true form. and that is diablo.
Mmm? I didn't notice any difference between Diablo I and Diablo II... Same red guy with horns who casts spells...
He has a tail in D2. He didn't have one in D1. Also in D1 he stood more upright.

I dont know, but alot of people think that there is some type of connection between the biblical Satan and Lucifer
Indeed.

Is Satan Hebrew for "advisary"? I did not know that
Exactly, so the Patriot's satans are the Giants and the Giant's satan are the Patriots.

Maybe I missed something, but where did the idea of Diablo being a Fallen Angle come from? Is that from the Sin War Books?
Well I was simply going with Diablo=Devil=Lucifer. >.> And Lucifer was a "fallen angel" so we would then assume the Diablo is a "fallen angel", which would mean that his forms in Diablo 1 and 2 are innacurate, and he would be more along the lines of a evil version of Tyreal.
Like I keep saying. Diablo does NOT = Lucifer. Lucifer is the fallen angel in some of Earth's religions. Diablo is a fictional parallel to Lucifer in a fictional world in which Christianity never existed. Also, if he were a fallen angel he would be more like Izual. I'd say that he is just evil. He was never anything other than evil.
Diablo, along with his brothers, which seem more like brothers in arms or rather brothers in chaos than actual biological brothers, were born out of the chaos in the Black Abyss. They are not fallen angels. They are demons, to their core.
THey may bear some resemblence to figures from folk lore and/or organised religions, esp. of the Judeo-christian faiths, but it's only a resemblence, depite them being the biggest baddest demons they are not Lucifer, Satan, or any other name you want to you, like him, but not him. God and Lucifer do not exist in Sanctuary, at least not like how they are describled in the various texts which have shaped their characters.

I think we can assume they have all been depicted in their true "forms of choise", meaning what they prefer to appear as. Diablo clearly broke out of the Wanderer and threw away what was left of the body in the cinematic, Baal had a considerable change done to him when he was safe from harm surrounded by his armies, and Mephisto was secure in Travincal with hordes of demons protecting him, so he also had lots of time to change after he gained complete control over himself once again.
As for them being shadows, perhaps that's a result of them beng banished. They could have lost some of their powers, or have been denied some of them due to the nature of their appearance in Sanctuary. In D2, they all clearly broke free of their prisons, which were the soulstones, and were thus given complete control over themselves once again.
All in all though, I think it is safe to assume that they can take almost any form they wish under normal circumstances.

Lucifer and Satan are not the same. Lucifer was an angel of God, his name meant light and he was considered the son of Dawn. Lucifer rebelled against God (I think this is how it goes). St. Michael defeated Lucifer and cast him and his followers (1/3 of the angels in heaven) out of Heaven. Fallen angels do not go straight to Hell. They roam the earth till Judgement Day when they will be banished to hell. St. Jerome named Lucifer as the devil, Satan, and stated that Lucifer was just Satan's proper name. However, traditional Christianity does not name Lucifer as the proper name for Satan. They say that Lucifer was the name of the angel who had fallen and that name is given to his state as an angel up to the point before he is cast out of Heaven. When Lucifer reached Earth, he changed into Satan. Traditional Christianity makes it clear that Lucifer and Satan are not one in the same.

The discussion whether or not Satan and Lucifer are the same is in no way related to whether or not we've seen Diablo's true form in-game. Let if end now and continue on topic.

I know, thats why i posted that large amount of info on it, to end the discussion.
Now back on topic, I don't think that we will really ever know their true form. We can assume but we cannot be positive as they all can change to whatever form they want.

That doesn't make them different. And I am not sure that that D1 Diablo didn't have a tail, the graphics of that game were pretty pixelated. And standing upright or not doesn't make it a different creature, either.
Take Diablo 1 for example, how can you call that Diablo is his true form? because when he dies Albrechts body is still present and actually still alive for a few seconds. From that I always assumed that Diablo was only corrupting Albrecht from within the soulstone and corrupting his body beyond recognition but when removed it turned back to normal
For some weird reason in Diablo II this didnt happen. Which is kinda conflicting evidence for how the soulstones work

Diablo was also in the Wanderer's body just like Baal was in Tal Rasha's body.
But he assumed his true form after the scene with Mephisto in A3. If I am correct, Baal never did assume his true form.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Mythology my ass. Diablo's use of so called mythology is a bastardization of the true history.
Baal truely wasn't evil, just the bastardized version of baal was.
Don't even get me started on the history of Diablo/Lucifer/Satan.
Well since Baal has 4 legs and a completely different look in A5 as he does earlier in the game I'd say you can safely assume that if that's his true form he assumed it.
