Why would I make such a statement you might ask? Surely there is nothing that could make that impression. Maybe not on you, but it has to me.
I found a mod. Now in so far as I understand, many people here may not know what a mod is. It editing done to an already existing game by fans. But even if you know that, you may be unaware of the vast array of mods available to Diablo 2. One such mod I am going to speak about is PlugY.
What does it do? It was dubbed by its creator (Yohann, from France) as "The Survival Kit", and that is a fit explanation. Its features includes:
Infinite storage space in the stash (up to 4,294,967,296 personal pages!)
Yes, this is the biggest feature, adn it is true. It allows for that many pages of storage, so the only real limit is the size of your hard-drive.
Shared storage space in the stash (up to 4,294,967,296 shared pages too!)
Characters on the same computer can put items in a shared stash, and switch them back and forth.
Enabled the ladder only runewords out of realms.
Self-explanatory.
Local World Event and Uber Quest for singleplayer and multiplayer off-realm !
Yup, Annihilus and Hellfire Torch can now be aqcuired.
Unassign assigned skills and stats points.
Put a skillpoint wrong? Realize you don't need all that energy? No problem, just redistribute them. Always regenerate maps in SinglePlayer like in MultiPlayer.
Also obvious Added some pages for display more characters stats like %MF.
A summary of all your bonuses that you receive through gear and charms.
Display item level in its popup. Launch any number of Diablo II games on the same computer.
Now you can play with yourself
Increase the stash to 10x10 squares.
Always display Mana and Life values above the globes.
Display the stats current value (without magical bonus).
All of these effects can be turnen on/off as the user likes.
I played with this once, and I can't play without it. The endless stash is wonderful beyond belief. Now I can finally stash up on everything. Runes, gems, sets, uniques, you name it. There is no limit.
And especially you Ferret wanted a way to get Annihilus in Sp. Well, here it is. You don't even have to stack up on SoJ. Plugy sells a small amount like B.net continually, so just hang around in Hell and wait.
Unassign skill points. Wonderful, just wonderful. No need to level two of the same class to 99, one character can substitute all builds now (as it is coupled with endless stashing, and as such endless equipment for builds.)
Yes yes, I will probably get attacked for cheating, but so what. It's not on B.net, so no one gets hurt, but on the other hand it enhances my gameplay.
Don't like the endless stash but want the World Event? Fine, you can turn it on/off. You choose.
So where can you get it. Right here, at the only big site for D2 modding.
Only downside (in my opinion): You can't play on Closed. But that is a good trade off. And besides, it can easily be turned on/off entirely, so if you want to play SP/TCP with this, but still roam Closed, that works too.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

I absolutely refure to believe that I can not even be honored with ONE REPLY! I don't care if the only thing I get is some random flaming, but at least acknowledge that this thread exists. And how is it not worth to comment 4,294,967,296 inventory pages?

there i made a reply
*ps, i think its because multiplyer on closed bnet is more fun than single, so no one really cares..* no offense though, good find! ^^;
I thank you for that one, and I can perfectly see why multiplayer is more appealing. But, with all complaints I've heard on the net about dupes, hacks, lagg, cheats, bots etc, you would think that some people would at least glance on something new.
But don't think you've seen the last of this. I will return again

All while yes some mods are cool they aren't worth getting kicked off bnet for. Personally i think the only real mod that u may ever need not that ive used it but i think mh is the best mod.
Depends on what you find most useful with it. Obviously 2 skillpoints per level is not going to get carried over, so it that's why you install it, then you're limited to SP or Open.

how do i download the file? it says i need a fileplanet account but i dont have one and i cant pay to register for one since i do not live in america and dont have paypal.. T.T plz.. help me install this..
I wish that Blizzard would implicate the shared bank on closed battle.net.
It would make the game funner for those who played through the game and wish to start an alt. The game already has the level requirements and the stat requirements. So, what could it hurt?

One of these days I will have to mail Fileplanet and commend them for their excellent fooling techniques. I swear, 99% of all people I meet don't realise that Fileplanet is for free.

Most likely server space. That is how it is with WoW, one of the reasons for restricting storage space, as it takes up a lot of space.

Yes I do, otherwise I'd have to wait too long everytime I wanted an Anni.
