So I've played Diablo, Diablo 2, Diablo 2 LoD, AND Diablo 3 but is it worth going back and playing Hellfire? I never even knew about the game until I read about it here. Sounds like a great game from what I've heard, but how do you even obtain this game? I doubt it's going to be at my local Gamestop.
Hellfire's pretty neat. I've actually only played it though through The Hell mod. I did have to have both original Diablo and Hellfire installed though.
If you're simply a fan of the original Diablo than you would enjoy Hellfire. As for how you obtain the game, well there are a number of ways.

Do you know if you can run in Hellfire? I remember walking everywhere in Diablo drove me insane.
I'm not sure what the big deal was with that in Diablo. The levels aren't as vast and open as in Diablo 2. But a lot of people who hated the first Diablo, that seemed to be their main gripe about the game.
As Siaynoq said, the only place where you're allowed to run in Hellfire is the town. Which should be the only place where you actually need to run. In the dungeons you can teleport with all classes once you've acquired the tome. In most cases you don't need to run either, just to create a choke point (warrior/monk), or to simply stay away from the enemies (teleport away with sorcerer/rogue) to kill from a distance.
As of the overall experience, the game gets a bit harder, especially after the Lair (i think that's what it was called). The lore may not be considered official anymore but it's still nice. You also get the chance to find the Book of Apocalypse, which is like the most awesome spell if you're a sorcerer.
It's a shame you can't just run it as simply as you would ES on Hamachi.
But anyway, reinstalled it last night. I really love this mod at any rate. Scares the shit out of me when those King Leoric clones come at you from out of nowhere.
You know last year when I played the game I didn't even know about the Crypt. Like I seriously just played in the Abyss and then I thought that was it. Don't know why I never got the Crypt map before. But I'm playing it now for the first time. I think they're fun places though. The Abyss is kind of annoying just cause all the worm slug like monsters down there though.
Now I'm just desperately trying to get 9 more dex points so I can tear shit up with this bow I've been waiting forever to use.
I still haven't even reached the crypt, I'm still in the Abyss and thus far it isn't anywhere near as fun as the original levels, I'm assuming the Crypt will be similar. Oddly enough, I'm more excited about listening to the new musical score the dev made for the next two difficulties, I went into them and listened to the town music and it's fucking incredible, can't wait for the dungeon music.
Yeah... those stinger things are little bastards :/.
Lash worms too, pretty sure they're the ones that drain mana.
Eugh, don't those stat requirements make you want to punch toddlers?
Been waiting forever to upgrade to the next tier of armor, so tired of looking at that beat up leather bullshit.
I WANT CHAINMAIL!

That pisses you off too? Like I have this pretty good archer's armor, but I want at least to at least have the middle armor configuration look on my Scout. It does a lot to boost your spirits seeing the stronger armor on your character. But I'm like level 27 now and I still look as I did when I started the game.
And I'm pissed cause spectral elixer's I can now only use once per level. At first I just did the black mushroom quest over and over again. But you reach a point where it doesn't let you continue using them until you've reached the next level. When that starts happening you need to be careful not even to use the Elixers of Strength or Magic of any of those cause they'll count as maxing out too. So you only get one chance per level to raise your stats with a potion so you better make sure you're raising them all at once.
And the Crypt is actually pretty fun dude. Like the levels look a lot different than the rest of the game.
As for the music I've been playing the game on mute but maybe I'll download those tracks and give them a try.
Fuck, does it ever.
Slogging through an entire difficulty level with the same look to my character. I mean it's not a game ruining feature, but it gets rather ridiculous when you're taking hits from massive sword wielding demons in your leather tunic. Just looks wrong, y'know?
..... Oh, fuck me.
I never knew about that limitation, thanks for the heads up lol, I've been pounding back elixers whenever I find them.
Lol, hopefully you're right :D.
Saw some screenies of the crypt and it looked pretty cool, I've got my doubts if it's anything like the Abyss though.
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, go download the new tracks, start a new game in the middle difficulty and listen to the tracks in town and in the Cathedral, they're fucking awesome. Definitely stayed true to the original feel of the music, I was really impressed with them.

I had this nice ammy that doubled the duration of Fury. It was really nice but I eventually had to give it up for one that gave me attribute points.
Currently playing level 3 in Purgatory. Everything has amazing hit rate so if I let more than a single monster flank me I'm screwed. I am using one of my better bows I picked up along the way though!
Pfft, fuck my mouth dude.
I want that amulet, would be so tits on my Paladin.
Thus far I've got all stat bonus rings and ammys though, resistances are maxed out as well :D.
Been having great luck with drops.
You download those additional tracks yet?

No not yet! I will today though cause I might be playing a lot today.
At least your res doesn't go down with each difficulty level. Yeah I have great luck with drops to except not really cause it's all stuff that requires up to 200 stat points. I guess in a way it's not that bad really that awesome things drop early in the game. Cause I could go back and play normal difficulty and still be getting great drops. But at the same time I wanna level up to so it's not as fun messing around in normal.
What does fury do for other attacks anyway? Cause I know it raises your stats, but for ranged attacks it makes me do triple shot if I don't have it already.
Thanks in advance.

Easily one of the best mods I've played, though I'm very biased since I liked D1 much more than D2.
I'm definitely gonna reinstall it. Are you playing online with anyone lately?

I'm just single playering it.
Weird guy.

Made a sweet ass mod, but can't be fucked to include stable multiplayer.

Might finally make it into the second difficulty :D.
Those two extra areas are boring as shit so far, sadly.
