My memory is a bit fuzzy at the moment, but you have reached Lazarus, right? Cause you first have to open all those seals to be teleported to his main chamber. After you kill him, you should just be able to follow the portal back out.
No, I didn't reach Lazarus. I ventured for a while, but then I stopped. I'm very low on health, and I got back to where I started, and I can't get out.
There is no way out if you don't have town portals.
You can beat the level though by opening the tomes of vileness then going to the beginning of the level and stepping on the teleport which will take you to his lair. Kill him and then you will have a portal back to town.
Yeah you gotta hit all those levers, then the circle on the ground next to it lights up. So you step on that circle and it teleports you and you look for the other level and repeat the process. Does this make sense? I know I'm not being especially specific right now.
You gatta read all them tomes. I remember i did thisa lil while ago it was a pain i forgot wtf i was doin. Just explore and open those tomes. I dont even remember how i got to his main chaimber i just remember stepin on somethin then the cinimatic appeared then i entered his chamber with 29834703 guys im like AHHH RUN

there is a tome on either side of the stage open those, one after the other. Once complete go to the centre of the stage there is another tome (or is it a metal pentagram? Been so long) you couldn't access before click that, you get teleported to Lazarus' chamber, kill him and his cronies, go back to the centre of the stage and stand on the metal Pentagram and get teleported back to leve l15, or use town portal.

-Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's First Law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.
Lazarus and the councilor member that is with him will not leave the chamber. The Succubi will.
You can lure all the succubi away kill them then come back for Lazarus and the lone councilor.
The two unique Succubi are pretty tough, but without Lazarus and the other councilor (mage) throwing fireballs at you it's a bit easier.
While Lazarus is talking you can move. You can set yourself up to draw out the Succubi.

What's so great about the Lazarus quest, is that it feels so personal. I actually felt like I hated Lazarus on a personal level, and that I wanted to smite his face all for the memory of Albrecht and Leoric.
That's why quests where you have to take on other humans are so great. The Lazarus quest is comparable to the Nihlathak quest in this same way. When you fight monsters and demons, it's just a given that you're going to kill them anyway. But with mortals who betray their own kind and are compelled by the Prime Evils, it's easier to become more emotionally vested in the quest.

Lazy is me favorite I wish there was some way to bring those mages back. I love how they teleported around and pwned you. Totally what d2 lacked. Those oblivion knights in d1 PWNED the ones in d2. are Doom Knights. Bursting into blue flames is GG in d2 they were small sking and gay looking

Yeah D1's Doom Knights totally kicked ass. One of my most missed monsters in D2.
Their stance was freaking intimidating. They were just so hard to hit. And when they died, it was super glorious. Although I always found it interesting how similar their deaths were in sound and looks to the Protoss Zealots.
The Knights were kind of cool in D2 also. But they were all mute. Eve their attacks were kind of quiet and boring.
I think lightning demons and magma demons are more of a challenge on hellmode. At least, they cause more problem than knights. The latter just **look** intimidating, but they have slow attack and pause often when chasing you. They behave exactly like Corpse Captain skeletons - not the smartest AI either.
