Sure. Gharbad. I love that shrift quest. And it's much more revealing than people think.

I'll always remember my first encounter with The Butcher. The combination of him and the room he was in told me I was in for one hell of a ride.

When I first played the game, it took a few tries to finally get him.. Eventually I leveled myself to lvl 9 bought tonnes of pots and heal scrolls.. Then opened the door and by the end of it, I still had 2 belt slots left to use. It wasn't til after I managed to hit him enough time to kill him that I ventured into his room, and noticed what all that was. I was maybe 8-12 at the time. Most memorable moment of the game for me, that was some scary shit.

i could never figure this out, i remember people saying godly plate of the whales was a hack(the most popular hack) but was stormshield? i heard that it was, but it didn't make sense since it was in diablo 2

I think it was the full plate mail version of godly plate of the whale that was a hack. The item itself I think could be created but it was something complicated with item level plus prefix and suffix level that made a godly full plate mail of the whale impossible to create without hacks.

Stormshield was a unique shield as far as I remember but maybe there was a hacked version too? :o

My favorite memories expect for the initial experience and the countless hours put into the game was reading all the 3@30 stories on the old b.net forums and reading peoples intricate strategies to get through :D

    My favorite moment:
Well, as many others have said: "Ahhh! Fresh Meat!"

    Another good moment:
Realizing I couldn't hurt the Warlord of Blood with Magic. (Using a sorcerer)

A final good moment: When I was 23, remember, this was in 2011. I was playing through the catacombs and the music was creeping me out more and more. Eventually I hear those strange voices, and I literally turn around and freak out a little bit. I just couldn't handle the heat. :(

Never got the same scare in D2.(Even if it is awesome :olddiablo: )

The catacombs. I'm surprised no one has said anything about this. It's so creepy. The music, the atmosphere, the monsters, all the eerie baby crying sounds... Gave me chills. And to add to that you have the Halls of the Blind.

British Deathmars is right. Didn't I say Catacombs? It's my favorite part of Diablo and no game for me has ever come close to conveying such a claustrophobic panicky feeling as that part of the game.

But yeah nothing quite matches the feel and darkness of the Catacombs. It's what I think of whenever I think of Diablo 1, maybe except of Tristram.

I hate when people say they want The Butcher to return to D3. To even say that is to fail to understand what made him so special in the first game. And they couldn't possibly recreate the dread one felt when seeing him in the first game. The new game will just be so polished and lack any real grit or rawness to have any Butcher or Catacomb like moments in them. They'll attempt it, sure. But it just won't succeed.

I remember that one time I was clearing stuff before diablo.. and I saw amulet dropping.. No biggied here until..

I identified it and then my jaws dropped. It was the best possible amulet you can get in game that only hackers/dupers/cheaters had :D

Obsidian amulet of something (cant remember the name nor stats exactly) I think it was +20 stats and something more..

NO ONE believed me that I got it the legit way and I was called a cheater and told to go away :(

I know its cliche, but " Ah Fresh Meat" simply sends shivers down my spine.

I have to say the greatest Diablo 1 moment, was the Halls of the Blind. "I can see what you see not, vision blurry, then eyes rot..." Man, that was great. Plus I loved all the "legit" pride me and the other legit players had. Don't even get me started on Tristram's theme song.
