I'll do one of each class Soft to start, at least one to Inferno. Then I'll get the Hards rolling. Looking forward to Hardcore a lot... only had one Hardcore character in D2. I still occasionally wake up angry and twitching in the middle of the night, picturing her lying there in the River of Flame...
Hardcore only if possible (I really don't want to have to create a throw away character and spoil the story!)
I graduated from Softcore -> Hardcore after I returned to D2 about 3 years ago, since that point I can't imagine going back, nothing feels the same in softcore, no fear, no terror, that extra strong fire enchanted spider? oh no problem, but in Hardcore, you best be checking your HP is full before he pops if you are close...
It took me 4 characters, before I finally killed Uber Baal with a hardcore character, and that was 8 years after I first played the game. I lost a 63 paladin, an 81 assassin, another 62 assassin (named Gloamed guess what got her :P) and a 51 druid trying to rush to the top.
To anyone thinking of playing softcore because they are scared of losing the character. I really beg you to try Hardcore, you will not regret it and that feeling of acomplishment knowing you are one serious badass when you finally kill whatever is at the end of Inferno difficulty. Well you'll thank me (when the sweating and the shakes stop!)
The 'wasting / loosing time'-argument doesn't really make sense to me. Once you stop playing Diablo 3 in, say, 3-5 years, you could say the same. Basically, as long as you're having fun, it's not wasted imo (granted, the dying part isn't that much fun in HC, but I always got over it 5 mins later and restarted).
yeah, some can think of it as fun. some like the thrill, some not. thats why its NOT ONLY sc or ONLY hc. you cannot appeal to everyone. i played diablo 2 rather casual on battle net. loved hunting the loot but didnt like the race for ladder or having to start over with new ladder. the same goes with hc. thats why i love the diablo 3 aspect that your characters will be permanent this time.
Hardcore is for another type of player - player who enjoys challange/leveling up more than hoarding loot and endgame farm. This player doesnt mind starting fresh and enjoys the challange.
you know, collecting loot is still challange for me on SC anyway i made some HC characters in diablo 2 but all of them ended being killed by some stupid lvl 90+ bot. some killed by lag. that is the worst enemy of HC for me ;p also im not saying i wont try HC. for sure i will but it wont be my main fun factor
Hardcore from day one. It will be an uphill struggle and I have no doubt that I'll die a few times along the way but the reward in the end will be so sweet.
Add to that the fact that the general hardcore community has always been more helpful (sharing loot, trading, etc.), more skilled players and the lack of a RMT Auction House, well, I can't find anything bad about hardcore.
softcore most of the time, but then I might try hardcore for the first time (never did on D2), my first hardcore char will probably be the monk, cause healing yourself is obviously a good thing in hardcore ahah
Softcore because last time i saw my friend losing his 98lvl sorc, he took the mouse and impaled it inside the keyboard and cut it in half.I think so much rage for a game is not good for us.Also it gets more expensive!
