Ok so since we got everyone on the fourms for the key frenzy lets get going on this! As a MASSIVE fan of HC and all i play (except the initial, required SC run through) i will not be playing with classes only the one i run through with or experimenting with characters till HC. I will how ever will be doing my homework leading up to the release! So that being said let's get some thoughts/inputs going to help out everyone from newbs to elitest! General knowledge tells us to go with survivability such as the Barb or anything that resembles a Necro(WD). I have read a lot and watched multiple videos on the the monk and i must say i think for hardcore it is pretty impressive! Lets get some well rounded input here!
I have only just recently started looking into some of the builds. Talking with other friends who will be getting right into D3 also the Monk sounds pretty solid with some of it's abilities, he was doing alot of homework on his class choice. Looking over the Monk it seems to have a lot of abilities that keep the enemy occupied or CCed while you hammer them! I have a personal preference towards the Witch Doctor but I still need to do a lot of homework on it as well.
Both the Monk and the Witch doctor seems to have a Guardian Angel passive (League of legends player will know what i mean)
for the non-LoL players, its basically a resurrection on-the-spot when you die. The ankh item effect from Warcraft 3, or the (passive?) Shamans in World of warcraft had/has (dont know if they still have it..?)
Anyways, that seems kind of overpowered Just run back and afk for a while when the passive is on cooldown lol.
Oh and the monk has the paladin bubble from World of warcraft too
But yeah he is probably squishy, so it will even out a bit.
My play style tends to be very defensive already. I've heard of reports of some bosses taking over an hour with multiple deaths (reminds me of d2 ubers), that I'd imagine would take much longer with the type of conservative play it takes to survive hardcore.
That said, I'd hate to see everybody creating barbs just for the survivability. I'd almost feel more satisfied with a magic user making it to inferno in HC.
I Think this Barbarian Build is awesome for HC gameplay! runes, spells are tuned to generate life from damage, some dmg red spell and stun\jump away from danger. also extra life from health globes is def a choice of life and plus extra chance of getting a health globe! Team up with some great Dps and you will become a great tanky barb
I must admit, WD looks strong regarding survivability. Basicly having minions with some strong CC and DoTs allows you to be a pretty desirable in any 4 man group. The passive ability that saves you from death, doesnt ressurect you though, it basicly gives you 3 seconds to get the *bip* out of dodge :). I might switch around Locust Swarm, but I saw in a video ages ago that it could be applied to your zombie dogs, which sounds kinda shibby!
Soul Harvest with the dmg modifier looks pretty powerfull aswell!
