I'm so tired of people and their lack of understanding when it comes to network infrastructure, Many times the issue is local, if the entire diablo 3 server infrastructure went down, sure that would be 100% blizzard problem, but if you are disconnected suddenly but nobody else is there is a high chance it is an issue with Your isp. Blaming blizzard for isolated incidents of network connectivity issues is just plain ignorant.
Hardcore is not dead.
People who are giving false negative feedback to potential players is why there are fewer hardcore players around.
If people took the time to understand how things worked less of these dumb threads would pop up.
This lag issue, which is understandable, coupled with the Hellfire exploit, has meant this season is pretty much over already. I was hoping Blizz would reset the leaderboards or something, but I can't see it, and the longer they leave it to actually do something, the worse the backlash. If they reset the leaderboards today, you'd still have ~3 months to be competitive, but they won't do.
The Hellfire exploit was probably the least damaging exploit ever: It was too early in the season to have an impact, it was very easy to track and once they finally do their punishment and remove that people that used this exploit for the leaderboards those people will experience a minor setback (and to be honest, the later in the season they do this the more difficult it is to come back from it), and it didn't give any longer-lasting advantage (as opposed to the blood shard exploit).
I wish blizzard would do what Riot did before the server move. Create a more direct backbone
. Before Riot did that I was getting 100+ ping to the servers after it was 65 which is awesome. As of right now we get about 120 to blizzard servers which is insane. If they did that invested in a good backbone would fox a lot of issues.
The only issues I have had on HC this
season, was issues that I could track back at my own connection. Be it
needing to reset the router, or actually reset the connection on my pc,
that seems to have been the only factors.
Well I have played hc all this season and I have lost many characters (DConoBarian#1671) I am at 624 and everytime I get my gems lvld around the 40 mark I have been disconnected or error code messages. so it does happen and it hurts lol. Smiles.....
I have played D for many yrs now from the original to the now.
I have just changed computers and we will see how this works.
So, today I've experienced my first RIP caused by Blizz servers (not the first RIP ever for me, of course) - and it was the most stupid thing I've seen sinse I started playing D3
Just assembled my Archon Wiz, powerleveled to 70 and tried my first solo grift (lvl 40). Made it almost to RG in less than 5 minutes, just ran through a clear place without monsters - BOOM, "connection to the server is lost". Well, ok, I press "OK" and see my toon in the menu still alive. I try to start a new game and get "Game Creation Error"! I Log out, restart D3, toon is still alive, I try to start a game - the same error! 3 minutes have passed since disconnect occured, my connection works perfectly, but I still can't create a game... And then, after 3 minutes I see a message appearing in Clan chat that my toon is dead because some white monster came from somewhere and killed it!
So, I've got no ideas except for the game itself played with my Wiz after the disconnect and lead him into the grave If I remember right, toon should disappear from the game after 10 seconds, so something was definitely wrong with the server. Let's hope that 2.4 will finally improve the performance. I'll try to stay HC unless we will see really serious issues on 2.4 PTR.

HC is not dead, but right now you should not play HC (at least on EU).
