Hey guys, I've been experiencing terrible FPS lag, and stuttering and i'm looking for some input as to what could be causing these issues.
My setup:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
6Gig DDR3 Ram
GTX 460M 1.5gig
I've tried the following:
-Updated my drivers
-Tried using old beta/legacy drivers from the Nvidia website
-I went to the d3prefs and set the Hardware class to 1, instead of 4.
- I bought a 16gig flashdrive to put the MPQ files on, rather than keeping them on my HDD. ( I heard there was an issue in beta with loading assets and i found this fix on the battle.net forums that links the MPQ file of my flashddrive to the game on HDD.
-I put DiabloIII.exe on high priority
- I tried putting Diablo 3 on two cores, Cores 1 and 3, and that didn't work either.
-It isn't an overheating issue, ive been monitoring my HDD, graphics card and CPU temps and nothing is overheating
-My battery settings are always on high performance and it isnt a PSU issue because i'm running on a laptop.
In game, my FPS fluctuates like crazy and enabling vysnc or disabling the MaxForeground and MaxBackground FPS makes no difference. Limiting the MaxForgeground FPS to 60, caps my FPS at 50...but it still dips down to 10-15 FPS when in combat against 10+ mobs. My FPS dips down to 5-10 in Inferno mode with 3 other players.
It doesn't matter if i put all the settings to lowest or highest, the FPS usually stays the same around 60-80+ when out of combat with default settings. I usually keep Shadows OFF and physics on Low and i still get stuttering and FPS fluctuations that makes the gameplay choppy and annoying to play.
It might just be that my laptop can't handle the game, but if you guys could provide some input or possible fixes to this FPS/stuttering issue please help!
If you think might be the loading assets bug, try downloading the trial of "O&O Clever cache" before I used it I couldn't get my FPS to stabilize high. Now if I turn off my fps locker I'll sit at 250+ at all times max graphics.
The bug has to do with the game unable to access the files it needs fast enough (I have a 7200 RPM 64 bit cache Caviar Black and it wasn't able to keep up with what the game was requesting of it).
I was told by blizzard tech support that my i7 CPU was below the minimum system requirements... seriously?... is that a joke? I tried O&O cache, Throttle Stop and gamebooster...nothing has worked thus far about to give up hope or wait for blizzard to patch this crap.
Change the number of sound channels to 16. I think that is the lowest amount it can be. I have heard that this can boost the performance of the system. I think I read this in the main blizzard D3 beta forums quite some time ago.
