I know many threads before.... Min req's say 2.8 but, will it work at 2.6ghz? I havent been able to find answer.
Operating System: Windows 2.6.1.7601 (Service Pack 1) CPU Type: Pentium® Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz CPU Speed: 2.62 GHz System Memory: 4 GB Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 Video Card Memory: 2.71 GB Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll Desktop Resolution: 1360x768 Hard Disk Size: 298.09 GB Hard Disk Free Space: 107.95 GB (36%) Download Speed: 1.94 MB/s (16.3 mbps)
I'm more worried about the GPU than the CPU. The 220 is very slow by modern standards (and honestly wasn't particularly fast when it was new).
I'm inclined to say "no, this isn't good enough". Have you tried Starcraft 2? Diablo 3 is similar, but doesn't scale down as well as SC2 can.
Yeah the card i was gonna swap with a 560 or somethin before release, to hold me over till i can get a new rig. I put what i have in it now. Just not sure how firm those 2.8 requrements are....
Which raises another question.... Is anyone currently in beta playing on anything less than 2.8? Or is that probably why i havent got an invite? lol
I can run the Beta just fine (high textures with everything else off or on low) and I have a 8600GT which is around the same if not worse then a 220 so I would say the GPU is fine because Blizzard have stated multiple times in their tech forums that the BETA is not even optimized and with the release version it will be optimized to run smoothly on cards dating back as far as 2006. My card "sucks" compared to todays standards and I can run the BETA just fine which means I will be running the release version even better.
Onto that CPU. I have a 2.8 which is the minimum requirement and I have no problems so I am not really sure on that. You might see some bad performance when things get crazy in game. Unless someone who is playing on that CPU or less sees this and confirms for you, you might have to just wait and find out. If anything stops you though it will be that CPU the rest of your system looks fine to run it on a mixture of low and high settings like I am. If the CPU does stop you though any other upgrades will be pointless and you need to just wait until you can get a new rig.
