Like everyone else I am patiently awaiting the launch for D3, however, while I wait I want to be sure I will be able to play the game smooth sailing without any cpu / gpu lag / hiccups.
I was wondering what comp spec you beta players are playing under and if it is necessary to upgrade my rig or get a new one?
Nice thanks for this. Is there anything like this for the CPU? However it makes sense for Blizz to only list the GPU since as you said its the most demanded component in the rig.
Just checked out the recommended system reqs and everything looks well on my side. I should be fine
(RECOMMENDED)
Windows® Vista/7 (latest service packs)
Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 5600+ 2.8 GHz
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA® GeForce® 260 or ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 or better
I just tried it on my media computer, and it got around 70fps at 1280x720, and 30fps at 1920x1080, all low settings, high textures.
AMD A6-3500APU overclocked to 3.6ghz
Integrated HD6530D overclocked to 500mhz
Gigabyte A75-UD4H Motherboard
2x2gb G.Skill 1600mhz memory
Antec Basiq 450w
Random case from 1997
What do ya know, my media/storage box runs the game just fine, and it cost me around $250. Those APUs are really a damn good deal for entry level system.
Here's my main specs, I play at 1366x768 (old 26" TV is my display atm, my weakest link) with all graphics settings maxed. I've been having the micro-stuttering issue that tons of beta players have been reporting. Most of the time it runs silky smooth at a solid 60 fps (V-Sync turned On).
i7 965 3.0ghz/GeForce GTX 285 = 60+ FPS at 2560x1440 with shadows off (45-65 with shadows high), 60+ max detail at 1080p.
Core2 Duo 2.4ghz/Quadro FX 370 = Unplayable
Cure2 Duo 2.0ghz/GeForce 9800M = ~30 FPS at medium detail
Mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13" (9400M) = Unplayable
The last 3 are semi-old laptops, and were clearly GPU-bottlenecked. Newer ones would definitely do better.
Thanks for that. I have a Core2 Duo 1.8GHz paired with a GeForce 9800 (desktop version). I'm hoping to pump a couple things up to high, but will see how much my cpu hamstrings me.
thats some sick ram if they are running at 4ghz
Anyways for my own specs I run a i7 920 (overclocked ofc cause that cpu was a beat compared to standard clock), ati hd5870 and 6gb ram. Personally I didn't find it to be super smooth but that could be because I usualy play with 2 monitors and one of them showing some movie or flash stream :P.
Personally I feel like you should be able to play it fine but when it's out u don't think the graphics u can run is high enough you can always upgrade. Especialy if you aren't planning on playing any really heavy games comming out.
Interesting post. I do have an (old socket 775) Quad 2 2.66 OC'd at 3.5, a 5870 and 6G DDR2, dual monitors 1920x1200 (only displaying game on one though) and i'm a bit disappointed by the performances. It feels like playing in max settings is going to be a problem FPS wise in the middle of big packs of mobs... It feels like my CPU would bottleneck if I upgraded my GPU, and I'm not sure if i should upgrade my motherboard/CPU since its a game using the GPU mostly afterall..
kinda pondering my options at the moment, not sure what to do
Off course if you absolutely want to upgrade, your graphics card should be first to be replaced (although it should run the game fine). i've got dual msi gtx560ti oc twin frozers myself and i've tried running the game with sli disabled and it ran fine with even one of these cards.
Eventually the choise is yours.. if you've got the cash for it, sure you can upgrade. If you dont... you'll still be able to play the game just fine...
I may grab another 550 and SLI its only 129.99 atm.

CPU: AMD PHENOM X2 555 (2 CPUS) 3.2 GHZ
RAM: 4ghz
GPU: 1ghz GDDR5 GeForce GTX 550Ti
I know my CPU is a little lacking and I could probably upgrade the ram to 8ghz.
I was thinking of upgrading the board, cpu and possibly gpu to something like this:
You probably don't need to upgrade anything.

That is a nice budget CPU I could use if it was still available lol. This build looks sexy.

My FPS ranges between 70 and 25 at its lowest
