Quick question. I have gotten my brother super excited to play Diablo 3. He is generally a console gamer, not a PC gamer. He has a MAC. He loves games like, Champions of Norath and the like for consoles.
Can some one with Diablo 3 expirience on a MAC tell me if I need to have him get a mouse in order play well? Or can he play well just using the touchpad that comes on a MAC laptop.
He insists that he is really good with the pad, but admits that he doesn't play games alot on it. My worry is that he will always be a bit bad using the pad.
It shouldn't be too bad once he gets the hang of it. I have played Diablo 2 a lot with the trackpad and it has been not as easy as with a mouse but it is definitely doable. Diablo 3 is more complex especially with the hotbar but the way blizzard designed it I can't imagine it would be very difficult to use the trackpad in normal and nightmare but once you get into hell and inferno a mouse will become much more relevant.

Any thoughts?
Thank you
I routinely play the beta on the couch using my MBP with no mouse. I'm going to say this with the obvious caveat that I have no idea how hard Nightmare and beyond is, so take it with a grain of salt. The touchpad (in my opinion) is perfectly usable for the beta and probably will be for most of Normal. I say that because you just can't move the cursor as quickly and as accurately with the TP as you can a mouse, and I'm guessing that will make a difference the further you progress in the game.
I used to play D2 on a PowerBook G4 with a track-pad. Actually, for a while, I preferred it to a mouse.
I'm sure he would be just fine with a trackpad but, as Neophyte said, go buy a cheap $10 mouse and be happy (I use a $10 logicrap mouse that has done me well for the last 5 years :))
