I'm pretty sure a new macbook pro or air (depends on your specs of course, some pros have less muscle under their hood) can run Diablo 3 perfectly, at least with medium or even high settings. The game is not that demanding and the new models have pretty decent gfx chips.
The 15 and 17 inch models yes, but he has a 13 inch, which means he has an intel HD 3000 integrated graphics chip, I doubt he will run it on medium
You should probably check the benchmarks on that card. With a newer system, it could easily run it on high settings. It's the first intel card that isn't a joke, it actually was a strong competitor when it came out.

No, not even close. You won't even get SC2 to hit 30fps on Medium settings, so there's no way it'll do high. As hawkeyenick said, you won't be running D3 on Medium with this card. It's still an onboard card, so it won't be that great regardless of the system. As far as onboard cards go, it's pretty bad these days.

Seems he was running around in the emulated version. I'll believe it when it's tried in the actual game with npcs walking around and spells being used.

That is true, I wasn't able to test using the actual Beta unfortunately. But there were tons of monsters on screen and it still appeared to keep a playable framerate. I'm trying to put together some info from Beta players on what kinds of framerates they are getting on various machines (both desktop and laptop) and any contributions would be really helpful. Members can post that info in this thread: http://www.diablofans.com/topic/29870-specs-and-framerates-beta-players-only-please/
