So the blizzard poster in the D3 beta forum asked for mac users to "Post their config file" in system-related bug reports. Which is hilarious, because that's not how macs work. if you're posting any system-specific bugs (such as crashes, etc..) what you'll want to post is the information in your "About this Mac" apple-menu selection, within the "more information" category. Don't panic, I'll walk you through it.
First, if the game crashes, apple will (should) generate a crash report automatically. Copy and paste the text of that report into your bug report.
Then, go to your apple menu (upper left corner), and select "About this mac."
Then press the "more info" button. In 10.6.8, this will launch the system profiler. In 10.7, this will launch the System Information app.
For 10.7, click the "System Report" button. That will then open a report that is identical to the system profiler report that 10.6.8 users are already looking at.
Now that you're viewing the System Report (or system profiler for 10.6.8 users), the default selection is the Hardware Overview. It looks like this:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP52.008E.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.42f4
Serial Number (system): BE SURE TO DELETE YOUR SERIAL NUMBER
Hardware UUID: BE SURE TO DELETE YOUR HARDWARE UUID
Sudden Motion Sensor:
The above is my laptop's info. As you can see, I'd like to stress the importance of deleting the serial number and hardware uuid from the report before posting it on the public inter webs. Seriously. Protect yourself.
The next piece of information you'll want to post is in the Graphics/Displays category (in the left hand column, under "Hardware". If you have multiple display adapters, be sure to select the one that was active during the crash (for complete information, it should still be active when you generate the system report). Then you want to copy the information below. That looks like this:
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT:
Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 512 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0647
Revision ID: 0x00a1
ROM Revision: 3436
gMux Version: 1.7.10
Resolution: 1920 x 1200
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Status: No Display Connected
Now you've got a complete set of information to send to Blizzard, along with your bug report.
PS: I can't post in the D3 beta bug report forums since I'm not in the D3 beta, but if someone would like to pass this guide along to the blizz folks, I'm sure the mac support team would appreciate it.
