Nope. Not gonna happen, and in my opinion it's good that it isn't. You need to earn the items yourself, and the trading restrictions we currently have actually panned out really well for the majority (there are some edge cases, but the pro's outweigh the con's by far). Just to reiterate again, one of the things that Josh said at Blizzcon was so 100% right in my opinion; starts at ~48:33 in the following video:
"Trading has the potential to wreck the reward loop, just like the auction house did". Absolutely 100% agree - if I could trade my clan mates, who have been away for a few weeks, some of my awesome gear I found like my 2nd Kridershot that is idling on a twink, it would be awesome for them... but it would also make it a bit more pointless for them to play and farm for it. Plus, it just doesn't feel great if you jump into the game, get all awesome gear right from the start and... that's it. Just like the AH. And of course we're not even talking about the potential exploitation through "trading clans" (your 30 day thing does nothing, you could easily join a D2JSP trading clan or whatever and just play GRs with your friends over friends list).
D3 console has trading just like D2 has - Which makes it the much better platform to play the game on in my opinion. Hopefully they will implement this on the PC version as well to make it more like D2 again. Especially without the ability to easily dupe and mod items on PC it would be awesome! I really hope they implement this because it would make Diablo on PC a much better game and I might even come play on PC again.
Being able to trade increases the replayability of the game especially for someone like me who plays hardcore because I may lose a character here and there with a lot of good gear. Also having to play 1000 hours before getting a rare item you want is horrible and can make the dedicated players of this game not want to play it anymore.
[quote]o prevent people from abusing the system you just easily implement a rule that once you join a clan you cannot leave it for 30 days. This would prevent the loop hole of people joining just to trade items and leaving. You'd also want to gate people coming in. For instance, you cannot trade within the clan until you've been in the clan for some amount of time. A lot of the 3rd party selling sites or communities are based off of instant gratification. If i cannot leave a clan for 30 days, but can join one (assuming i haven't recently joined one) to get the item I want, I can always find other ways to find people to play with.
[quote]bsp;"Trading has the potential to wreck the reward loop, just like the auction house did"
While I agree that it has the potential to ruin the reward loop, directly tying items to builds can also create boredom. For instance, I've never found a Wand of Woh (despite quite a bit of Wizard play), and at this point I'm tired of standard firebirds builds. If I were to get a WOW, I'd have a reason to play my wizard, but since rare items generally have the most interesting affixes, my ability to create variety on a class is totally dependent on RNG.
I guess I can see both sides of the coin here. On one hand, it can give a reason to play, but after a certain point, it becomes demoralizing that there is a build I cannot do simply because RNG hasn't shined on me, despite putting the time in on a particular class. I certainly think that limiting trading is a good thing, as being able to trade to the entire player base is going to cause massive exploitation. The downside though, is that some builds only really become viable after 1-2 rare items are found. I feel like there has to be a middle ground there. Though, since they are buffing the chance to find the rarest tier of items, it could be that my argument is moot.
Nope, bagstone has is right on the money. Inviting trading, invites problems. Remember the RMAH. In fact that was a game on its own within d3. I even understand why they will NEVER implement clan trade. The reason being is that ANYONE can join a clan and anyone can leave. So ultimately if it were ever implemented there will be a total of 6 main clans representing each class. You just need a group of people within each clan to farm. This also invites Chinese farms, d2jsp, etc back. This will exponentially destroy the current life of the game. In d3v you could buy your way to the top. AH is the reason why the player base cut in half. If you want trading play the console version
It's been years and people still think that just because you enable trading, you get everything for free.
Remember kids, trading is value vs. value. To get a BIS item, you gotta offer something of similar value instead. You dont just log in and get showered with goods. I dont know why everybody assumes this.
Anyway, IMO the rarest items should be craftable. I have been waiting all season 1 for a ramalas gift for example, or a star metal kukuri, and at this point even if it were to drop, it's too late to make any impact on ladder... RNG beat me in season 1. I hate that there are certain builds I just cant play cause I dont have the items. They dont need to be perfect trifectas, but to have the base item would be sweet...

that might be true to trading with random people but allowing me to freely give out items to friends / clanmates would indeed create a situation where people are showered with goods. My friend started playing D3 like a month ago and i had to farm all the M6 gear with him. If trading was possible i would have just handed him out literaly 100% of the gear he needs...
Anyway, i've been saying this for over a year by now, that the only way to implement a trading system that players could not abuse would be to pair you up with complete random strangers that you would have no way of identifying (this means no chat either) just a barter system of some sort where you can see the "for trade" items the person infront of you has and you can make offers using your own "for trade" items. Such a limited system is just going to be too random and tedious so i think the devs are better off investing time in balancing legendaries rarity and introducing new items to the game.

Well if he wants that, and you wanna do that... That's your problem... Others have a little self control.
i enjoyed rmah and ah. lots of people did. i dont even see why its gone. it was a promised feature from d3 launch and they took it away. that in itself is BULLSHIT (sorta like how they never did the pvp thing). imagine if they just deleted a class altogether. all of a sudden dh's are just POOF GONE. why? because they make the game too easy and people wah wah wah-ed about it a little too hard.
why should i have to fs items my friends can use? some friends want that instant gratification! they dont want to grind and fight rng to try a build. theres nothing wrong with that. if they want to force us to grind then jay wilson's 10 year plan with the shit legs and shit drop rates is the correct play. this "smart" loot no trade system is some bullshit half grind half instant gratification thing. like they want us to play to get items, but they want to make it impossible to get upgrades while we salvage "good" item after "good" item.
ah and rmah gave almost every item some worth. even mats and gems and subpar legs and rares had worth (pre dupe). now 99% of items you find are trash. worse yet, they turn into mats that take up SPACE (making mats not take up space is yet another undelivered feature).
Agree. Clan trade isnt needed. Now, as it is, my clan helps to equip new players in a week. If u want a kridershot, lets farm it in group, not just to buy it!
No thanks , legendaries rain out of the sky atm , granted not for me in T6 rifts , but yeah
If they brought back trading "which I hope never happens " drop rates would probably get drastically reduced . Rifting can be a chore right now , I would hate to see the drop rate nerfed into oblivion because you want that helm your m8 just had drop and you weren't in his party . .
Dear me , in seasons , took me 5 days to get full M6 / Calamity / Unity / RoRG / T&T's etc , why would you want trading And then I was only playing a few hours every day .
So many ways to get gear now . Clans / Communities / Kadala .
No thanks to trading , it's where it belongs , in a deep dark corner where it will never escape .

but yea, we could go for another way, and make a loot class selection. Iknow smart loot is not 100% but it would be awesome if we could choose what class we would like to be selected by smart loot (kinda the same functionality that exists in WoW).
Since we can earn shards with one character and spend all of them with another one, I guess this would not kill the game as trading system would do.
My only real question is.... if Trading is so horrible why can consoles do it? Is it the botting on PCs? But consoles have duping, so in theory once a duper gets the rare stuff, it can spread like a virus. The same type of marketplace could form with online sales that has been brought up for PCs. Seems like a little bit of a double standard to me. I'd say, either both gets it or none at all.
Trading is possible on consoles because with offline mod there is no way to prevent cheating and stuff like that. Also, the console version is kind of a "testbed" for PC (Josh used the example of loot 2.0 which was tested on consoles with loot 1.5 before being introduced to PC).
If you have duping and cheating and savegames copying and everything, there's no point in restricting other stuff like trading, that's why console doesn't have the same restriction. Note: I've never played D3 on console so I'm not exactly sure what's possible and what not. (PC master race ftw!)
Diablo has always been a trading game. Shame that people sell there stuff in the real world. I would love to see trading back. Mainly we payed for a game and I'm almost paragon lvl 600 and I have yet to see a furnace. I have yet to see a Rhineheart. We payed for the game so we should be able to play and experience all aspects of the game. This guy a couple of weeks ago I was carrying on t6 and he was only paragon 23(yes 23) and in one game dropped a furnace and Rhineheart. I'm like wtf. I've been playing since launch and then some newb gets this stuff. I know they are dropping buff rates but at the same time I don't see how that some people can be so lucky and others so unlucky.
