Hi everyone.. Long story short, I got a grown up job and got married. That being said, I no longer have been able to keep up with the game as I would have in the past. I had to put down my PC account and now get to sparingly play on PS4 with my friends once a week at best.
I'm looking for some help from you guys who are much more knowledgeable with the game in its current form. Does anyone have any build suggestions for a crusader? At the moment I have gear based around Fire Skill Damage % and use, for the most part iirc all the fire skill runes of the following:
Slash - Blessed Shield - Phalanx (Bodyguard) - Law of Valor (Terror, to trigger Haunt of Vaxo) - Akarat's Champ - Falling Sword (Not sold on this, have tried heavens fury instead)
I don't have the best gear but am starting to be able to do higher torments with my friends so the gear is on its way. I have 2 pieces of Roland and 3 of Akkhan. Is this build okay or am I way off base? I would just like to know that I'm going in the right direction to be able to keep up with my friends who play classes with obvious direction.
Thanks in advance.
edit: Sorry - I also currently use Maximus I think its called. 2H sword that summons fire chain demon and Blarfelghar (lol) shield that makes blessed shield hit more targets. I also just looked up the passives to try to remember what I have on, and none of them are what I remember. So I will have to tweak those next time I get to play.
Thank you this sounds great, I guess I need to give up/find a better necklace so I can stop obsessing over Haunt of Vaxo so I can switch to unstoppable force from law of valor. Is fist of heaven really going to be better than blessed shield? I thought that was the only thing I had going for me, it seems to hit for around 20M on a crit and heaven's tempest at 25% wpn dmg seems like it won't touch it. I don't know though, thats why I'm here. I'll definitely give it a shot. I have a stash full of crusader flails and shields I've been saving that have funky effects for skills on them, just nothing has touched the damage I have on Maximus right now.
The previous poster seems to have failed to mention, you will use Firestarter rune with AC for this build. This is the true key to this build, not heaven's tempest, as far as damage is concerned. HT is decent and is fire so will do moderate damage, but, it and Heaven's Fury/Blessed Ground(instead of falling sword OR consecration (great skills, but this is a very mobile build and don't work well imo)) are two, if not the two, best ways to stack the dots for Firestarter quickly. Eventually you will want 6 set or 5 and RoRG from act 1 caches, along with Darklight(1 hand Flail) preferably. Fire% lidless wall, eberli charo (for more dots from HF/Blessed Ground) are decent shields for this build. Any other complementing fire gear will help, I.E. ammy, SoJ(ring), Reaper's Wraps with fire%(bracer) will help. 56% CDR(cooldown reduction( is the magic number once you have Akhans 6 set bonus, remember it is multiplicative not additive so the more you get the less change you will see on sheet CDR. It is not terribly hard to attain with one hand weapon. You will ideally want it on shoulders/gloves/weapon/helm gem/shield and can also get it on Vigilante belt, or if using RoRG with 5 set Captain Crimson belt and legs/boots (crafted, 10% CDR REQUIRES RORG TO GET AKHAN AND CAPTAINS BONUSES). You can also get CDR on rings but it is tough to get CDR along with a socket and decent stats, try not to use rings for CDR unless you need it to reach the 56% mark.
Ok this makes more sense now. Also as previously half-stated, I actually have a Darklight in the bank (not sure how good/bad it is) and a Lidless Wall. I am currently using SoJ and Reaper Wraps, and own the recipe for crimson set. I do not however have the vigilante belt, not sure what that is; pretty sure I'm using Sebor's Nightmare or something.
So it looks like I may be on the right path just need to tweak some gear I already own and my skills? It likely won't make much sense to me until I get to try it out as I said before, the dmg on Maximus is so high that putting a 1H on scares me.
Yes Maximus has nice dmg, and is not totally useless in a Firestarter build. Darklight has a couple benefits for this build, it is one hand hence you can use the one hand passive for IAS and CDR, HUGE help getting to 56%. Darklight doesn't have fire dmg so can also potentially roll Dmg range, Str, Vit, CDR. Heaven's Tempest is THE best skill for stacking the dot for firestarter, Darklight procs make it even more so, as well as the faster attack speed. Vigilante Belt is just a Leg. belt that can roll up to 8% CDR.
Keep in mind when playing with this build and testing damage, the Firestarter damage is a dot, so will not show up in yellow crit numbers, it will show up as white numbers, and once it starts stacking you should start seeing ticks in the hundreds of millions.
