I run like a dh with around 300 CD and around 50 CC. I also use Bane Of the trapped, Zei's stone of Vengance, and Enforcer around lvl30.
To my understanding leg gems damage (Trapped, Zei's) is multiplied separately. Does this mean that CRITS become even higher? If that is the case, should I prefer crit chance over crit damage?
Any advice and explanation of this would be great Thanks!
Most damage amplifiers are multiplicative, and have always been. Weapon dps*mainstat*critchance*critdamage*... this is where you add the gem damage, making your crits (and non crits) bigger.
So to maximize your damage, you aim for 10CD per 1CC you got (just like you aim for 10armor per 1allres for damage reduction).
That being said, I prefer to have more CC than CD (compared to ratio), as CC can proc things (nightstalker, apoc, pain enhancer gem, ... used to be more important in the past), and will balance you average hit more, doing less overdamage*. I know doing huge crits is nice, but killing fast is nicer
*overdamage: if a mob has 1m hp, would you like to have 1crit for 10m followed by 9 hits for 1k, or do 10crits for 1m?
I aim for 50%chc then as much CHD as I can get. I had a bad soj from the past that happened to have a socket so I sacrificed the useless elemental damage on it for 50chd and kept farming rorg until I got one with 7ias/495dex/soc and rolled its lph to 50chd. Can't remember the post where someone broke down what can be on which slot and thus what crit do you give up when you cant have both for a socket. 2hxbow, 2hbow I sit at 2.84hp with 52.50-55%chc and 505-516chd. so Pretty much the usual 1:10 ratio but I dont try to follow that. If I could get chc to 60 and keep chd at 505 verse getting chd to 600 while keeping chc at 52, I would choose the CHD. In the sense of a DH, sentry fire's so much and having as much cc as most do already I would take harder hits over maybe 1 more crit per sentry cycle.
Rambled a little but felt like reasoning out why I choose base 50chc then as much chd as possible.
