So its come to my atterntion that armor on gear is scaled WAYYYY to low, for instance i got an upfrade and it had armor, my other piece didnt, i equiped it to find that i gained .20% ddamage reduction, 1/5th of a percent, also i have 18000 armor and its only 320 armor. why would blizzard think that this is viable? any retard can see that its a problem, if you get armor and another useless stat on a good piece of gear its essentially ruined. today i got ancient parlen dfenders, 500 strength which is max, max damage reduction, max fire damge but armor and life per hit. i rerolled the life per hit as i am leapquake barb and life per hit doesnt really work..so that leaves me with a completly useless stat. anyone else feel my pain?
As has been pointed out, str gives you armor, so the diminishing returns on armor will make it weaker for you. I get 1.2k all resist from paragon points+int on my wiz - at that point, armor is starting to look pretty damn tasty.
My melee wizard would disagree. She even likes strength on items. Yes she was raised by a Drunken Barb named Zonked and thinks she is a Barb. She is defensively minded and hates Critical Hit Chance and Damage since she thinks that's for Milk Drinkers. The issue is finding gear with Strength and Dexterity. Sadly I do not have that much items with sockets except the jewelry and a pants. What I might do is add some strength and Dexterity with a gem. Yes I am odd at times. Yes I know she will never be uber powerful but I do not care. I am having fun with her. She can handle T2 quite well and I am happy for that. I might be able to handle T3 but I am comfortable with T2. Sad thing is she is my strongest character.
Now if I can only make a melee Witch Doctor then I would be happy. I missed my old Melee Pet Witch Doctor. Yes I used Normal Attack on the RMB. But I only played solo when going with Melee.

Goldwrap has nothing to do with armor being worthless(cause it's not.....), its just an easy way to exploit it.
Armor is good for everything, and you can't use the Greed/Goldwrap combo in Grifts.
I get what the OP is saying. Even for int characters, if you don't have +all resist on multiple slots, AR can still beat armor (atleast according to the toughness calculation). 100 AR on one slot just seems like it's more than 500 armor on one slot, even factoring in the way mitigation works (where you want a balance of AR and armor). They should buff armor somewhat imo, not "double it" but maybe 25-30% more.
