Today I want to show you guys the new Lifesteal - a combination of Life on Hit and Life Per Resource Spent (for melee classes). With the most recent update to PTR, it is now possible to regenerate your health steadily, in chunks, or all at once - sometimes without even attacking. In a pickle? Activate Sprint and get half your health back! Melee classes will finally be competitive in the higher tiers of greater rifts.
In this video I go a bit overboard for demonstration purposes and showcase different skills to use with each type of regeneration. I also discuss the new life on hit mechanic, health globe healing bonus stacking, 'triple stacking' life on hit/life per resource/socket, class balancing, the new amethyst gem, implications for spenders/generators, 2H vs. dual wield, and how much is actually needed. Enjoy!
Thanks for the vid. Now I'm really interested in trying these changes out on the PTR.
You're welcome, hope you like it. I should mention again that I did go overboard on the LoH/LpRS in the video, so it probably won't be THAT strong for more realistic builds, but the idea is to show what can be accomplished to some extent based on how much you decide to stack. I think Blizz is doing the right thing in balancing melee and ranged by giving melee a secondary/complimentary sustain option, since you can't really buff innate toughness any more without unbalancing the game.
I think melee will focus on LpRS with LoH secondary unless it's a very high attack speed build.
Ranged will focus on LoH and life per second - which one first I'm not sure yet, as I haven't tried stacking LPS just yet, but I will soon.
Been looking for something like this for a while now. Was wondering how the changes to healing mechanisms would be working on this last patch. Good job!

It's a cool vid for sure and displays the potential the new mechanics provide. I'll give you the fact that you went overboard though, it's not really feasable to have those stats and still do a decent amount of damage, unless you have insane gear, due to missing out on a LOT of stats. It's a possibility for the best geared characters, not so much early on!
Still, it's fun to watch you run around in packs on the health globe bobbing up and down
I think the life per resource spent is going to be the most used, as it only requires a single passive and health globe healing bonus. It'll make gearing properly a lot harder though, because you'll now essentially be looking for a 5th affix on as many slots as possible. It's something you should do anyway, considering the reduced amount of HP health globes now recover on PTR vs. Live. Around the 125k mark (5 slots - shoulders, chest, boots, 2x rings) is where you'll hit 10k life per resource spent (5k for monk) which is going to be awesome!
