Hey everyone.. I am normally a solo player, not that I prefer it just happens that way due to the nature of my job as well as my clan mates. Anyhow, I was wondering about the idea of having a star on the map for other peoples legs in group play? Make it a different color, not orange or green but a different color per player, so that the rest of the group can tell that someone got a leg. I think it would be cool to see the rate that others are getting legs in a game. Now Im sure that it will make others jealous about not getting legs but, well you cant please everyone. Like I said its just an idea.
That would be kinda cool... except that, depressingly, it would almost certainly spawn a whole new family of loot drop conspiracy theories. "My friend got 8 legendaries, I only got 1... don't play Demon Hunters on Tuesdays if you're with a Monk!"

Other suggestions: Getting legendaries (identifiying and randoming them) currently links them in your clan chat. Imo it should link them in party chat as well (or instead). My clan honestly couldn't care less about my drops. My party members could however be interested, especially when rifting with the same class.

That seems like a pretty solid suggestion. Although not sure if people tend to identify as they go in multiplayer games, personally I find it frantic enough that I leave that until later. Still would be useful for some groups, particularly groups of friends rather than random queue groups.
Thats really dumb. Since u can pick up ur partymembers legendaries ^^
On consoles yes. On PC/MAC you can't.
You can on PC lol. Never played console version
No, you cannot pick up other people's legendaries unless they throw it on the ground. In that case there's no star, btw.
OPs idea is about something completely different... you would only see a notification on the minimap, but you wouldn't actually see the legendary on the ground that dropped for other players.
I think the idea is kind of nice.
@Limdul: Completely agree, it's actually really annoying that you have to post all your legendaries after each rift in party chat to enable trading. Well, I sometimes just throw everything on the ground that I don't need and salvage it a couple of rifts later. (That being said, it only shows when someone *identifies* an item, not when they *find* it. Ever came across those annoying people who identify items a couple of hours later and not in your game, while they're still tradeable?)
Everyone I run with does their idents at the end of the rift. Don't see a real benefit? The star is on the map so you don't miss something, more stars, diff color or not, would drive me nuts/paranoid I'm missing something. Especially in a fast rift run.
I don't think it would be added. My thought for that is that Blizzard wouldn't want to encourage things like split running even though they haven't explicitly said it's against the rules, I don't think they are willing to add features that support that kind of playstyle.
This would be beneficial to those who do split runs and a legendary drops for a team member not in their area though. Or perhaps for a team member who has gone to the next level in a rift or dungeon. It's a minor benefit at most, but one that I would like anyway. Even if it's just a toggle.
It would need to have, at a glance, an easily distinguishable difference so you knew whose drop it was to notify them. Easiest way to do that would be a name below the star, but colours could be able to be assigned on the party interface corresponding to party join order. This is to say that stars will not be later coloured according to item drop rarity (set/legendary).
Another simple idea would be a small icon in a corner of the star icon with a number, 1-4 to indicate whose item it was. Alternatively it could be a class icon, with paragon level or such.
However, I'm sure there are other more elegant ways to present it, if it ever comes to fruition.
