hey all! just want to share some findings of mine in the last 3 days of gameplay which were about 5-6 hours per day, doing mostly Rifts on torment 1+2 on average i did about 30 rifts per day. anyways i noticed in clan chat i found 12 legs fri, 9 legs saturday, and 12 legs sunday.
out of those 33 legs i found : 12 pieces of blackthornes set. 2 chestpieces, 3 legs, 3 ammys, 3 belts, 1 boots. and 1 piece of immortal kings set- 1 glove.
why are blackthornes set so common? no way its random lol.
im not complaining im just wondering if anyone else thinks blackthornes set is super common! thanks!

...Been playing Diablo Since Diablo 1 came out...and haven't stopped playing Diablo since...
Remember: Legendary drops are weighted. Blackthorne items have the same drop chance as other "common" legendary items for the various slots. It is, therefore, expected that you will see them drop more often than other set items and about as often as most regular legendaries.
Just to add, Blackthorne's set is very common - not as rare as class sets - but just as common as other legendaries. People just perceive it as being really common and annoying because it's an elusive green beam, but not one of the nice and rare class sets. I personally like Blackthorne drops. Blackthorne's is an awesome set to help your lower geared characters to reach higher Torment levels. I'm always looking for an upgrade on these. In fact, even my main wizard is wearing them as it's the only way for me right now to survive on T5 given my melee-type playstyle (I love Heat Wave). I'm an ambassador for Blackthorne's - give this set more love! ;-)
I think its supposed to be common as a good starter set, since it gives you some needed toughness for the first for toments and is very easy to get.
Thats why it needs to be common enough, so that nearly everyone at least has the two piece very quicly. It does get pretty frustrating to see the Blackthorne symbol later though:( Maybe they should give us more sparkly legendary rays for Torment only sets and legendarys.
I gave up on my crusader after finding tons of blackthorns.. and only one piece of akkhan in like 150+ rifts on Torment4+
Last monday as in 1 week ago I leveled my dh to lvl 70... Today I found my 8th piece of marauder and on top of that I also found 2 piece of nats and 1 of the shadow whatever its called set. All this in around 48 hours of playtime.. I have barely seen any blackthorns since I decided to try demonhunter.. I don't know about all this with weighted loot Cause I certainly haven't felt it on my demonhunter at all...

That's the strange phenomenon called RNG, which isn't that strange really.
I know What I mean is after countless hours and keeping track of all drops its quite easy to see that my loot is more spread out when playing demonhunter rather than when playing crusader.
As crusader 50%!!!! of all loot I find are 1 and 2handed axes, maces, swords and flails
When playing demonhunter 50% of my drops are nowehere only bows, xbows or 1handed xbows.
To sum it up... Finding less weapons equals finding more of everything else. Rng or not.
I wonder if the changes to how elites roll affixes is an indirect reaction to Blackthorne's and (more particularly) Aughild's. It will be far less common to have elites that are just all-offensive and pepper the ground with tons of shit.
There was a general feeling that Aughild's was necessary for many specs to break into higher torments. This could be a way of addressing that?
