No, I am not. I am using "effective" to mean that it will be an improvement over my current build. If I switch to being fire right now, it won't be as effective as my frost because I have frost items. It will be, quite literally using the definition of the term effective, "effective". It will have produced the intended result of being a step up from where I am right now.
But you can switch ele damage via the mystic.
Not sure what the problem is?
Pretty sure most people already switched some other stat like life regen to crit dmg/chance so you can not switch the ele damage.
I think we're both getting too far into semantics at this point. My only point was that a player can set up their skill bar with any build and make it effective without specific legendary. OFC you're gonna need appropriate rolls etc, but these two issues are mutually exclusive.
More to the topic at hand;
Here's a quote for everyone to soak in.
"Most of our focus on Diablo 3 is as a trading game. So, if you take trading out of the item space, you ruin the core of the game. Finding a really great item that is not for you is still a great event because it means you have a bartering tool to get the item that you do want. We definitely want to make sure that that still exists." ~ Jay Wilson

I think we just have a different idea on what "effective" really is.
I really do wish trading was in the game. I found a decent dex mempo, dex hellcat and dex magefist on my wizard that I would love to trade off for something else. Or if none of my items work for people I can trade my forgotten souls.
I think the RnG is very well tuned. Much better than D2 IMO.
I'm actually getting quite worried that Blizz is going to bend to the softies and loosen the drops far too much. People that enjoy the game don't even post at Bnet anymore, they've all been run off. So the only direct communication between the players and the devs is a format inhabited by jerks whom do nothing but complain.
It's almost comical going to Bnet. I mean....nothing but bitching and moaning.
"Wasting our time" with what, exactly?
Well, after gaining another 100 paragon level without finding that specific item, you will be upset too.
The problem is NOT legendary are not dropping. They do drop BUT just the same fxxking craps every time. I can't tell you how many set of BlackThorne I got. How many set of TF (good item), magefist (good item) and tower shield, lidliss eyes. Mickey Mouse amulet, whatever that garbage call.
The game is BOA, there is no need to have more than 1 copy of any item.
Well, history has shown how trading ended up with Vanilla DIII: gold sellers, bots and compromised accounts to replenish the chinese stock of gold.
No trading has downsides. It also has some awfully good ones, such as keeping the chinese farmers out.
I dont get how people dont use authenticators in the first place. I see nothing wrong with gold sellers as long as they are not from stolen goods. Bots are around regardless of trading.

Getting the same item to drop multiple times can lead to excellent rolls, replacing the same item you already have equipped. This is all part of a healthy loot table.
I feel the drop/loot tables are perfectly tuned. I also feel that BoA is squeezing the life out of the game for far too many people (ironic that the acronym "BOA" is in reference to a constrictive device, ain't it?).
Yeah, and the whole Diablo 3 Vanilla revolved around trading non stop on the AH or enjoy the "amazing" item rewards that killing monsters gave us....
A trading game, yeah, sure.
Sometimes i wish Developers would stop with those propaganda speeches.
You understand there's a butter zone here, right? The AH's were on one end of the extreme. BoA is on the extreme opposite.
The truth is often somewhere in the middle. It is incumbent upon Blizzard to find this middle ground.
There isn't a middle ground, either you can free trade items or you cannot. There isn't a "free trade for X amount of time" that doesn't fall into the former. People will find a sick item and just log off until they find someone to trade with.
Also Jay Wilson last worked on Diablo 3 how long ago? His quotes on the direction on the game are hardly relevant at this point; even overlooking the fact that the majority of the diablo 2 crowd blame him for the ****stain Diablo 3 was on launch.
Yes, but AH was there to make the "core experience" of anAction RPG easier. Propaganda speech as much as Josh's "killing monsters is fun so we are going to kill trade".
I always played D2 as a self found or with a close circle of friends, so i never mass traded but in D2 it wasn't mandatory as it was in D3V to have a chance to build an effective character. But that's not the point.
The point is that some people aren't finding gear fast enough for their taste (drop rates are fine in my opinion) and i understand the need of trading, if someone wishes to get gear faster and how RoS is shaping up, i think both self found and trading can live together quite well because the rewards are quite generous to reach T3-4 with dedication. Let's add Ladders, so there is an economical reset on the competitive mode and we have something similar to D2 that can make most players happy.
Yep, a self founder isn't against trading, shocking. The problem was when trading was shoved down my throat in vanilla and drop rates and item quality were balanced around the idea that the "Core experience" of this game was trading gear....
But this is totally off topic... and i'm really ranting so hard these days on Dfans.... jeez, the complaining.

And i totally agree with you on this, on my raging rant (that quote from Wilson made my eyes bleed from anger) i didn't share my common opinion that BoA is the opposite extreme of AH.
This list is bullshit because it says you only have a change of getting a item dropped for your class. I got a Firebird's Off Hand drop on my WD last night but the chart says it can only DROP for a wiz. Says 0% drop for anything but a Wiz which is like 6.x% for a wiz.. So how does that chart work if I get a Set item for a Wiz on a WD, also got a Inna's belt on my WD which is clearly for a monk
I know that you realize this, but you having found a set item is not proof that the drop rates are in a good place, just as my not having found a decent set item is not proof of the contrary.
I almost didn't read this thread the moment I saw who was the OP. At least once a week, he/she creates a thread that is a trolling attempt to bitch about RNG. I'm really kind of getting sick of it.
I tend to agree with Ruksak though. I think that better trading within the clan is appropriate but BOA is far better than the AH ever was. I think that a clan-only trading post could be a viable alternative.

Why do feel the need to display a pentagram in all your posts?
It's how these games have always worked. I'm not sure D3 even has items on the same rarity level as D2.
