Hey all. A Twitch streamer who was streaming one of my studio's games convinced me to go ahead and buy the expansion and play. I'm a long, long time Diablo fan, but like man, D3 left me kinda bummed/bitter.
I have a level 60 barbarian who was nicely geared up for the old days. Though I quit right about the time Paragon levels came out so I never gained those.
I had to decide if I should try the new class or the new Act first. I made a Crusader figuring I need to re-learn how to play.
I often like to read up via guides and such to understand what has changed and what sort of systems I need to be aware of.
What guides, faqs, etc. should I read to get prepped to understand what has changed, what is new, and what I should really know about?
I kinda want to just hop on my barbarian and try the new act, but I don't even know what difficulty I should use now or anything like that. I don't know about all these tons of new, interesting systems added, how crafting has changed, how abilities have changed, all that.
if you were okay geared in vanilaa you should be able to handle torment 1
He wrote that he last played before the paragon levels were introduced. His gear is probably just enugh for normal. You forget how much gear increased during vanilla.

Exaggeration. Naked is "probably just enough for normal". Any gear farmed at level 60 at all and he should comfortably start at Expert-Master.

Yeah i wanna see you take a naked lvl 60 into act 5. Good luck. Please record it and put in on youtube, just for giggels

Normal. that can be done very easily. if he has at least 60k dps as lvl 60 he can easily do torment 1.
You can always decrease the difficulty in game now. try starting at Master then if its to slow and you die a lot just click it down. i would recommend getting to 70 before kiling the last boss as this will get you a guaranteed lvl 70 legendary, or find someone to carry you in a torment kill.
I'd recommend he finish act 5 with barb so he can do all the bounty/rift stuff if he wants from there out. He can start a crusader and never touch campaign modeif he likes.
However, I'd do the act5 on normal to see if he's okay or not, if so , he can easily bump the difficulty UP to where he's comfortable. Truthfully expert /master is what I set a new character at from lvl1.

I quit right before P. levels as well and breezed through T1 until about lvl 68. Let's not get too crazy.
Okay so when you do acte 5 for the first time you got increase legendary drops on your character.
What exactly are you referring to here?
I'm not aware of any difference in legendary drop rates between Act 5 and other Acts of campaign mode?
They introduced a system where if you killed malthael for the first time in that campaign reset you will get a guranteed legendary when you are above lvl 60.

I dunno. I wondered if that was what he was talking about, but the wording "increase legendary drops" didn't sound like he meant Malth's guaranteed one.
Anyway, if you start Act 5 at level 60, you'll be 70 before you finish, so that's no reason to hold off on starting Act 5 until level 70, which is what he suggested
T1 group rift run drops more legs easily, why bother?
Aye. But rifting is slightly boring tbh. I do enjoy going through the campaign from time to time.
Also due to my general luck the 3-4 hours it takes for me to clear campaign I have on average higher turnrate of legendary's than in rifting.
Usually in rifting i get on average 1½ legendarys per hour. (please note this is what happens to me and not any indication of drop rates in the game)
While doing the campaign i get on average 8 legendary's and then the guranteed from malthael.
I know the dropchance is twice as high in rifting compared to campaign. but my luck wants me to play the campaign and so ill follow.
If you're soloing I guess I'd agree, but if you can get a regular group, multiplayer rifting is much better drop rate/ speed of kills, but fun is fun, and everyone's got a different idea of what it is..

With 2 hander ("offensive"):
With sword and board ("defensive"):
My current skill setup:
I went ahead and started Act V on normal. Not sure if I should bump it up.
is very nice build to get you started
last skill point can be used on w/e, i usually pick avalanche
