Wow, the long treacherous journey it took us to finally get here. Way back in August RoS was revealed, and now it's finally here.
My first impressions were literally, "wow".
The graphics feel way more smooth, the animations look slightly different for some spells, and the graphics seem just a bit more.... dark. Did anyone else get that vibe from the graphics engine, or is that just me?
I like some other small features like the potions, and the new monster affix seems really cool. I like the graphics of the new affixes. I also like the changes to some of the already existing affixes. Overall, I think it's clear we are heading in the right direction. At least that's what my first impressions tell me
I do, though, really miss face rolling mobs of zombies. It seems like the nirvana build doesn't work, and the CM build is completely removed from the Wizard. Just gonna take some time to play around with builds and gear, and find that sweet spot with hordes of mobs everywhere
I noticed this on the PTR, but it bears repeating here now for the live version: I'm a huge fan of rare/elite/champions popping up anywhere and everywhere. This combined with the new drop systems also means that characters that are leveling up have a similar loot/progression experience as they do at max level. It makes the game feel much more consistent rather than "leveling up" and "end game".
The ability to move the difficulty around lets you tweak the game until it is the perfect difficulty for you/your hero. Overall, great job by Blizzard.
Difficulty is still badly tuned just like PTR. For my current gear Torment 2 is easy, yet Torment 3 nearly impossible.
Thats odd ... i dont find the diff between T2 and T3 to be that big. I can run T2 ok, T3 a little slower .. if you're running T2 as easy as you say T3 shouldn't be a problem at all.
I got that darker feeling too, and they fixed the fonts issues with 16:9 displays, which makes my eyes really happy
I haven't tried gameplay yet (fucking finals always getting in the way of important stuff) but the changes seem really nice on paper. Except for my endless archon build, I'm gonna miss that, but it's for the better I guess...
They surely moved in the right direction and surely they'll fix the issues that come up with this kind of changes...

I did made no changes to my barb except for fury gen and I started to find dificulty around T4.
I played for 5 hours got 4 legends, even one out of a barrel! Leveling is fast PG 238 to 239 in less than two act 3 runs, Darker tones, improved graphics, new builds etc. Over all two thumbs up!
Did some runs with my main char, found 2 legendaries already.
Because of the guaranteed legendary drop on bosses I started a new char from scratch (although I could use my paragon points)... When you complete quest you get a blueitem, that's new for me.
I still seem to be getting the short end in terms of legendaries/hour (played 6+ hours, got 3-4 legendaries), but then again I did find 2 pieces of the Blackthorne's set (which I gave to Daemaro ), so maybe that's the tradeoff.
Also, I keep my stance on how much I dislike the sheer amount of times Smart Drops trigger. In about 4-6 hours played, I haven't found a SINGLE useful item for alternates (with good stats or anything, almost ZERO Dex/Str items). Being a multi-class whore, that annoys me quite a lot.
Still lots of new stuff to see (legendaries and conclusions on skill-balancing and itemization), but definitely a huge improvement so far.
Can't wait to go and view and test the incredible amount of skill changes. Havent had a chance to play it yet, but in all my years...those are the biggest longest most succulent patch notes I think I have ever seen in any game ever. wow.
Am I missing something in regards to "monumental patch notes" ? those are MASSIVE.
I found 3 upgrades for my WD and 1 for my barb last night, and a legendary belt that was sort of a side-grade. What I like about loot 2.0 is that these drops make me ponder swapping out a build to try something else out. I'm a zombie bear whore for sure, but when you start getting +% to abilities on different pieces plus all the other cool stats, it's worth trying something new!
Overall, the gameplay feels different, but I greatly enjoy it. I appreciate the assets loading faster, so I'm not dying from my PC freezing up as it loads everything for the first time. I like the darker feel, paragon 2.0, and pretty much everything else that has been delivered to us. My least favorite thing about yesterday is the spectral hound vanity thing. It just seems out of place.

Do you think the Mystic will help alleviate some of your frustration, since ostensibly at least in some cases you could just re-roll the main stat to the relevant one?
My impression so far is more than positive. Before the patch, i thought that loot 2.0 would be the best thing, but Clans take the gold medal for me. As soon as i joined Dfans, the amount of people playing together and forming parties was amazing; it felt like Diablo 3 was alive again. Maybe it's just the effect of patch day but i think that if the most dedicated players will play often the game will be lively.
I share the same thought of Zero, my stance on Smart Loot is that it's still too frequent but i can live with it, expecially since i'm not an altholic and if i want to gear up a bit a new character, i can craft stuff for him.
Right on Doez. The loading screens definitely fly by now. I already fou d 3 different bracers with + % to physical, ice, and something else damage. It def makes you think about it. The ammy I found that I wrote about earlier heals me when I'm being hit by arcane damage. Do you know how freaking cool it is sitting in the disco balls having fun? It's awesome!

Haha, that is pretty cool. Having items move you away from cookie cutter builds is so much fun. Oh and another thing I'm not up to speed on / didn't really care for. The crafting recipes now require those common junk materials along with the essences, etc. In all of my playtime yesterday, I only saw 2 of those things drop. Do I need to pick up gray crap to salvage?
I'm sure it will, daisy. It's still not going to be as good as if the item had already rolled Dex/Str since I'll have to sacrifice a "useful" stat to reroll that affix, but better than nothing.
I already miss her a lot was saving some gear for alternates when I remembered she's not in the game yet and legacies won't be enchantable.
I love it. Can't wait to get home and play more. Happy in a clan & several communities, good to see the chatter in game as well as the various items dropping. Feels like a "full" world. It's great.

Yeah, white/grey will D/E into common junk (or whatever it's called). I was annoyed about it at first, but the drop rate is so much lower now I don't mind hoovering everything up. You get a good amount, too - I've seen stuff D/E into 8 or 9 common junks.
I fucking love Odeg. He is such a jerk, it's like just killing him is reward enough in itself I don't even need a drop. He is the kind of villain who just makes you go, "This motherfucker's gon' die" under your breath, even if you're normally a pretty relaxed dude.

But I found an ammy, Countess Julia's Comeo. One of the affixes is, "Prevent all Arcane damage taken and heal yourself 24% of damage taken"
