People seem to really have this concept messed up these days. A beta is not a demo. It's not about "checking the game out", despite what some streamers' attitude might suggest. It's about testing game features and providing feedback that will improve the experience for everyone (and not just the tester) once the game goes live. The Titanfall streams really show that - how confused and desperate (to try the "newest" product) players are nowadays.
I guess it's the player-side plague of modern gaming, with things like "early access" and "always on alpha/beta" being the dev side of it. Players don't understand how software/games are developed, and developers don't want to commit to actually releasing games free of bugs or with very well thought out features, they just wanna get what's ready on people's hands.
I cringe when I think of the possibility of companies like Blizzard or Ubisoft following that path. I really do.And some recent games have shown signs of that .
Not to mention there might've been 100k invites. With a 10 million player base on PC that's just 1%. No matter how many invites they send out, if it's not Open Beta the chances to get in are super small.

Beta's stopped being about the testing as soon as the marketing department got a hold of them.
They invite the player's who won't play for a few month diablo 3 to get they'r money. If you give a beta invite to a player that who haven't play for a few month d 3 probably that person will buy the expansion pack. They don;t give invites to people who play d3 every day pr play ptr everyday or just allready buy the expansion. This is marketing and allways was the same with Blizz. They don't have any intrest to give the key to players who really play this game. Anybody know's where i make a refound for ROS. If anybody know please tell me. Thx and sorry for my bad english.
I gotta agree on this i know its a lot of rng but cmon look into stuff like this. They want a none buggy launch well take the time get players that have proven to play thousands of hours in there.
Like it was stated a few times. Beta is not a demo. Beta is for testing out the game and to offer feedback to help fine tune the game.
Yeah, that was the definition about 10 years ago. That was before games (MMOs) learned they were one of the best marketing tools ever. I've been in real betas and even closed invite only beta teams. I know it makes people feel just a bit less elite to be told they are just part of a marketing gimmick...well...sorry.
The closer we come to the release of RoS the more progresses the transformation of these forums into the official forums. Hopefully this should be over in about six months. Thumbs up to you, Zero, for pointing out the obvious. As you said: Beta != Demo
