Man, blizzard just can't stop fucking you over. First you can get your suckers....I mean "fans" to give you RoS Legs....now you can't do anything with those legacy items you were stockpiling... RAGE MOAR!
I also don't see why people are upset. When the expansion comes out, you should be getting better gear almost right from the start. All this does is prevent the good lvl60 gear that you may be hoarding to become obsolete with that new gear. I can foresee some of the gear still being used up until level 65 or even higher. At level 70, the gear should become obsolete. But that doesn't mean it will. This way it prevents people from having powerful gear for level 70 earlier. At least from the get go. Also, when they redid the legendary items they made it so all the older ones were not affected by the change. While not fully similar, it already set the precedence of Blizz not allowing the legacy items the same benefits as the newer ones.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
Is it just me or has the number of 1 posters increased ten-fold over the last day? I mean the ridiculousness level of this thread is over 9000!!!!!!!!! No, really this is ridiculous to think that they wouldn't try and find a way to make legacy items useless past t1-2. Honestly the AH ruined everything It forced Blizzard to completely redo the drop rates to where they were non-existent and there were STILL TONS OF BIS LEGS ON AH! Now that they are trying to force the itemization game back into a state of normalcy you guys are complaining? Please get off your high horses. Think about the game not all those hours you invested. This helps the game not hurt it. It forces you to eventually drop the stupidly BIS items you got because the AH was a dumb idea. This enable the game to have a pretty normal pool of itemization without having to worry about too many people having this crazy ridiculous gear. The reason why DPS on 70 items is insane is to counter people using those stupid items from the AH. It will work too and I'm all for it.

Not even Death will save you from Diablo Bunny's Cuteness!
If you think that level 70 items are already better than level 60 items even with enchanting, then why are you upset about this change? They will be obsolate when you hit level 70 anyway. The how this change is going to affect your gameplay?
In here as well as in the official forums thread the people in favor of enchanting legacy items are resorting back to one single argument: "you haven't played RoS if you disagree with us". Well, just not true, we have. In fact, if you're allowed to post on beta forums you have to be in the beta. So this point is mute. What other arguments are there?
I'm not sure if it's supposed to be an argument, but if "70 items > 60 items" then what's this all about? If 60 items are useless even when enchanted, why are you even upset about this change?
Lastly, please both sides (those in favor and those opposing this change) please stop the ridiculous "credit card warrior" statements. RoS is absolutely 100% non-competitive, no one gives a rat's ass where your gear comes from, in fact I personally don't care what gear anyone is wearing besides me and my friends, especially since it's all BoA and this is not an MMO or some kind of PvP battle. The only single reason why I like this change is because I think it's quite ridiculous that for certain builds wizards were forced to bring old level 60 wands and enchant them because of the missing 3rd piece for APoC. It just sucks when you're locked to one item in a slot and you know for sure every drop, even an overpowered legendary, will not replace this ancient level 60 weapon for one particular buildbecause 30 APoC is a necessity. I don't see any advantage in this, and I'd be much rather forced to play with 20 APoC and have a choice between a wide variety of weapons than to be locked in to one single weapon that I brought with me from "the old days". (And I see other classes reporting similar issues.)
This decision is the product of Blizzard realizing that RIGHT NOW, in D3V, at this very moment, are people buying up imperfect items for cheap with the intent to perfect that item with the Enchantress. Sorry fellas, that sh** just ain't gonna fly! They have reworked a lot of things in RoS and they don't want people to just "easily transition" into T1. It's not how item progression should work.
I actually wish there was a "Reset" button on your account that removes all characters and returns vendors, stash, etc to level 1. Would be cool to build all that up again. Working under constraints while leveling lets you get creative (especially on HC).
Edit: Re, "credit card warrriors", I wonder if anyone was ever called a credit card warrior when they bought a game with the Brady Strategy Guide.
I kinda had a feeling they would be doing something like this. I haven't played D3 in a few weeks, working on LoL and Day Z since leveling to 1000 is kinda pointless now. This isn't the first time Blizzard has screwed us all over in Diablo.I don't approve but the masses will still buy the Expac. Am I buying the Expac? At the moment I have not ordered it.
I stopped watching D3 streamers long ago, either their on a high horse riding the internet, eating their nose candy or are just plain annoying/"wanna-be" tools. Idk why it's like that, is there a guide out there on "How to properly stream Diablo 3.". The comment about people on DFans having no clue about this game is just a stupid remark, I think its worse over at the actual Blizzard site.

What part of 60 < 70 don't you get? 60 items are NOT competative to 70 items. Even echanted ones.
So if they arent competitive, why does it matter if you cant enchant them? Youll destroy them eventually anyway? All it does is force you to destroy them earlier? You guys seems to not be able to keep one line of thought anymore.
There is literally 0 people in this thread who have a clue about what they are talking about.
Well, at least I can accurately describe what type of person you are.
Sorry MC, I just can't take you seriously. I've liked some of your past threads, but you've now lost all credibility, and I just can't take you at your word anymore. You've shown your true elitist colors. You demand that the only way to play, is your way.
It's unfortunate that you're unable to conduct yourself in a more personable way, because maybe then you could garner some support on this subject that you're obviously passionate on. It's sad that that isn't the case, and instead you insist you're the only one who knows anything on this topic, that everyone else has no idea what they are talking about, and that if we disagree with you, we are all trolls.
when I view the game's item situation as it has been from vanilla until present day,
what I see is an item spectrum that they (blizzard) have fumbled around with, fucked up and ignored overall.
to me the item stats, particularily those to be found on legendary items are bland and boring beyond comprehension.
the math generated behind "trifecta items" should not exist. its as if combing those 3 or 4 stats on each item and its mathematical result was a mystery until players found it. and that should not have been the case.
they should not have left such mathematical extremes march on untested into the game.
they should not have made legendary items so boring that they all need to be overhauled
they should not have finished their redesign of those legendarys so short of desirable outcome
and overall I feel all of these fuck ups has lead us to what we now get to face; the entirety of the items generated on the earth within the first years, which will probably be the busiest, all cut out of the entire enchanting system.
is their something about this I dont understande correctly?
or is that the cut and dry description:
That all pre expansion items are 100% unenchantable due to their unanticipated power when it happens? well if thats the case its pretty unfortunate.
even if the issue is circumvented with character progression right from the get go at the beginning of the expansion, the problem and the solution seem to rear their ugly heads due to incompetence...
as far as the damage control for everyone snatching up low damage weapons with high stats?
good that they did not let everyone so easily leap into amazing weapons....
but bad that that's the size of bandage they have put over the gaping wound...
it's as if the crafting system is "2+2=4, so lets go buy a bunch of 1's before we can't buy em anymore so we all have 4's anyway
oh look blizzard made it so you cant add anything to the 1's....
If you think that level 70 items are already better than level 60 items even with enchanting, then why are you upset about this change? They will be obsolate when you hit level 70 anyway. The how this change is going to affect your gameplay?
This. This argument makes zero sense. No reason to complain about the change if LV70 items are better than 60.
Too many assumptions from you MannerCookie. Putting everyone in the same basket as "ignorant" (who lack game knowledge) and "casual" (because they don't play 1k+ hours) players isn't going to get your point accross, nor is it going to make them agree with you. Maybe you actually have a valid point, but the way you put it is not going to convince anyone.
Second, the whole "Blizzard doesn't know" or "devs are decidingbased on a vocal minority". Well, I think we've seen tons of complains go unanswered before, and sometimes taking months (year+?) for them to acknowledge something as problem (AH), so saying they based this change off some 50 posts on their forums is a bit short sighted too, imho.
In the end, I'm neither of those things you described, and I still support the change. Yes, I have thought about it, and I still think it's good for the health and future of the game/franchise as a whole. It's gonna take some seriously strong rationalisation and arguments to make me rethink my positioning - so why don't we try that?
Also, for the record everyone, since this is a fresh/new debate, and people are obviously very interested in talking about, I've been holding myself back from interfering too much in the thread (I don't wanna kill people's will to discuss). BUT if you guys keep calling each other TROLLS, saying someone is BUTTHURT, making snide/sarcastic comments ONLY with no actual arguments, I will BE FORCED into warning and banning people =/
I REALLY didn't wanna do that in this thread. So PLEASE, try to get your points across and argue without attacking each other. Last chance...

Thank you, because this is getting ridiculous.
I think we can all talk about this without attacking each-other....seriously.
I think that there is a hole in this "discussion." If you are admitting that 70 items are better than 60 items anyway, why would you even care to invest the gold required to enchant them when you know you are just going to find better items once you eventually hit 70? Enchanting those 60s won't help you become world first 70 or anything...
the idea that 60 items aren't supposed to be better than 70 items.
I'm not sure I can explain this so that some of you can understand without a full video, but let me try again.
70 ITEMS > 60 ITEMS
I hope that clarifies that situation up for you guys that are confused.
Cheers

Blizzard: We have this new itemization where quadfecta is a thing of the past.
Angry people: Yes but why you make current quadfectas obsolete!?
Logic.
