New competitive/coop mode

    Siege mode

    What is Siege mode?
    siege mode is a fast paced competitive/coop mode designed to revamp the Diablo experience.This is not a actual pvp mode, you do battle the other team but can never actually engage them in combat.Each team would be in their own instanced area.This is meant to be a race against the other team to add a competitive mode against other players, something that is sorely missed in the current game.

    How does it work?
    Once players enter siege mode they will be given 60 seconds to change their skills/runes before the match starts,once the match starts you will be unable to switch anything.There will be 2 teams of 4 players one team acts as the attacker while the other the defender.Each team has a set amount of resources 10k will the used for this example.

    Killing white mobs removes 1 resource from the enemy team.rare/elite packs are worth 25 resources.At the half way point (5000 resources) a mini boss will spawn that is worth 250resorces once killed.A player death will remove 25 resources from your team.The match will continue until 0 resources are reached at which point a end boss will spawn the team who defeats their end boss 1st is the winner.

    Bosses
    My example will be of act 3 the mini boss for the defender side would be siegebreaker while the end boss would be azmodan.On the attacker side they can face a captain of the guards as their mini boss, and tyrael as their end boss.

    Specials
    Every 2500 resources each team would be granted a special type of ability that anyone on their team could use to help turn the tide of the game.When used correctly this could allow you to catch up to the other team.

    My example for this is act 3 the siege of bastions keep.The attackers team special would be able to summon demonic hell bearers that summon a set amount of white mobs/elite packs to attempt to overwhelm the enemy team.The forces summoned by this would not cost resources when killed so the defender must quickly take them out.

    On the defenders side of things they can gain access to a catapult.The catapult would be placed in a fairly defended area the attackers would need to reach and destroy it.The catapult would fire every 30sec killing 15 of the enemy team resources.

    Locations.
    The locations for this could be anything from diablo lore just to name ones in d3 that could be used. Act 3 siege of bastions keep.Act 4 siege of heaven and Act 5 siege of westmarch.

    Rewards.
    One important thing to note is that no actual loot would drop in this type of mode, it would slow down the pace of the game play with players comparing loot.As far as the actual rewards they could be just about anything blood shards,a bag with chance to drop crafting mats,legendary items,gems,gold,double exp for the winning team whatever would be needed from this mode..leaderboards could even be added with clan win/loss records to promote a community competition as well.

    It seems like a game like this would quickly get dominated by a small number of builds. For example, if we had this mode on live D3 today, you'd face nothing but teams of sprint barbs and WW/archon wizards. The only way to compete would be to play along.

    That's irrelevant since ROS is going to make more builds viable.

    @OP: This is a good idea that has been tossed around a lot in one form or another. Kinda reminds me of Enfo's team survival WC3 custom game.
