So I am a little confused as to why I was kicked and instead of actually informing you before kicking you from a game, people feel much more powerful to vote kick and then hurl insults at you, not really telling you what is wrong. Maybe this place can help me out. This was consecutive games, so it really threw me for a loop as I have never been kicked out of a game before.
Game 1: I join "Monster Slaying" game and there are two others in the game doing Ubers. I decide to go to get my five stacks and if they continue to do more Ubers I could join them. So I head out to Defiled Crypt and start killing, pretty immediately they both die, and someone else joins the game. I am in the middle of a mob of around 40 or so skeletons, when they decide to retry. I cancel as I don't have five stacks and am in the middle of this fight. They go to Uber battle (not sure if the new dude joined them or not), and they die pretty quick again. Two of the guys join me in Crypt and then I get the message that I am kicked. Some Maximeelius guy says "Why join a game if you aren't going to fight <obscenity> <obscenity> <obscenity> <obscenity> <obscenity> " I only have ten seconds to type and say I was working on stacks, why the kick when others are with me? Booted. Really confused by that one as the other two (one of whom JUST joined) were with me...
Game 2: Four of us are battling in Hollow and we have a Barb and WD that are leading the group. They are leaving behind half dead groups so I work on cleaning them up. Then I run to catch group, they leave half the group behind, rinse repeat. Then I get booted, for no reason, no explanation whatever? I am guessing they thought I was solo, even though I was with the group the whole time. Not like I was half a map away or anything. At least I didn't get a screen of obscenities with that game.
I'm not super upset, just really confused and wondering what I might have done wrong. I can accept that it was my fault, I just wish people would really communicate better. A simple, "Nate if you don't do X, we are going to kick you" would suffice, rather than a boot with no explanation. I have done that a few times when people are going solo, and they usually either leave the game or join up with the group.
Like I said, it's the first time(s) i have been kicked, so I'll chalk it up to RNG or something but I have also noticed that the public games in the last few weeks have been really bad. Lots of aggressive behavior and cussing at people. I'm really not liking what is happening. If this is what we have to look forward to in RoS, I think it should stay as is.
The first case, the guys were trying to uber, if you're in the game but you dont help out it just makes it harder for them as it raises the monster's health. I dont get why people would even do ubers in an open public game.
The second case, I'm not really sure.
My advice is to not play those public games so much, they just aren't very good. Make a few friends (there's a looking for group sub forum here) and run with them. The runs are usually more efficient since you all have one goal and its just more fun running with people you're familiar with.
Well in a way RasAlgethi24 is right. Being in the Crypts while they were trying to uber made it harder for them and perhaps that is why they got frustrated and kicked you. Then again, I don't think they should expect you to join them with 0 stacks. What it boils down to, I believe, is just a simple lack of communication and not anyone's fault in particular.
Same goes for the second instance. I agree with you wholeheartedly on the communication issue.
After thinking about it for a bit, the first case is kinda weird. You shouldn't be able to get kicked if you're fighting mobs, and in the Crypt that's like 100% of the time
Maybe they should've used the "Uber" label for the game, instead of "Monster Slaying" like the OP said.
Maybe they decided to do Ubers after they created the game. Or something else. Hard to tell really without hearing their own reasoning (which could also be because they're dumb :P).
well the game mechanics made kicking anyone anytime possible. but yes its all about communication. I've been on many public games and so far I've never got kicked ( knocking wood ). Its about up front telling others what you are doing and intending to do.
we should not assume everyone else think the same as we do. So first case, its probably a case of simply not communicating the fact. if you inform them up front that you need to get those 5 stack first, I would assume ( courtesy be given ) that they would wait or even help out before heading to ubers.
2nd case, is very much what I saw as many so full intended on speed farming and so focused on wiping the map and not caring if the others party member might got the same speed ( not every one have always +36% movement speed, many had zero infact ) so they simply put others as the same as them and when others do not catch up along, they got annoyed and well. Me I usually j\would just ask if I encounter some one like this if they can just slow down and wait for everyone else or if they don't care.ANd if not, it might be better to just find another game. Again up front and be frank. Better that than sorry
Though you didn't really do anything wrong, you could have opened a dialogue to ask if they would be OK with you getting a five stack first. Other than that, the most sensible thing would have been to just leave after seeing they were already doing ubers.
Communication, communication, communication. If there's no communication, there will be misunderstandings.
Game 1: I assume you did not tell the existing players that you'll be getting your stacks. Had you said "Let me get 5 stacks real quick and I'll help out" it may have turned out differently. If they refuse to let you get your 5 stacks, then just leave the game and join another. When they're doing ubers and you're out somewhere else killing other mobs, you're impeding their progress.
Game 2: You have two options considering there are two obvious players leading the way in terms of killing. Option A: Glue yourself to their rear ends and stay on pace. Option B: Tell them to slow down and stop skipping mobs. If you don't say anything, they're going to think you're a slow straggler holding back their progress.
I had this one guy blow his period all over my screen for 10 minutes; after I tried to reason why another stranger in our group started a boss fight before he could go to town and sell. You just never know who is sitting on the other side of that screen.
I guess I understand Blizzards reason for public games being the way they are but I have NEVER thought the new system was superior in any meaningful way to the D2 games were joined. Even being able to see how "old" a game was, was very useful. Hey I wanna run A1 for xp but that game is 12 minutes old - they're probably at 5 stacks and in Fields or Hallow already. - but NO, you get dropped in to whatever game the server decides. Wasting tons to time trying to find a game near the beginning, or sequentially dropped in games where people are selling off their junk with most areas cleared - even getting dropped back in to the SAME game you just quit.
Just to be absolutely clear, there is no official "Uber" setting either. It's:
Monster Slaying
Brawling
Key Warden
Key Warden might imply ubers, but it isn't perfectly clear either.
Oh, wow....I could've sworn there was an "Uber" label. Silly me.
The problem with an uber setting is that the game would have to be limited solely to Act 1, so that might be why they didn't implement it?
Might be a pain too when people are all joining Uber public games and no one wants to actually use their own machines, they all just want to leech. Then you end up with null games where no one actually has machines to do the game objective.
Either or both of these reasons could be the line of thinking perhaps?

I'm pretty sure this is why "ubers" label doesn't exist. It's basically a cheap way for people to leech. I can't imagine how many people would join a game and be like "Infernal machine? What's that?" just in the hope that some other schmuck uses his.
It would almost certainly be exploited to the point that it created more problems than it solved.
Wow, thanks guys for all the feedback! I'll definitely check out the dating game forum
And yes I could see how my lack of communication could be misconstrued in the first case, but again two of the three guys were with me fighting (and it takes three to kick), so that is why I was really confused. Next time I join a game and they are fighting ubers I'll make sure to communicate what my intentions are and ask if they have an issue with it. At the same time, rather than cuss me out, the guy could have asked nicely instead of just kick. That's the part that I really don't get, is why people just auto-kick.
To answer the one poster, I was using my Archon Wizard who is plvl 64 in an MP8 game. I think he does around 160-180k dps, I don't really pay that much attention.
