Hi friends. I haven't played Diablo on PC since initial release (yeah, I'm one of those), but I've been really enjoying the console version. I've almost got all the achievements - there are only two left: Level 30 Hardcore character and....
Pick up 5 Million Gold
For those unfamiliar with the PC version of this achievement, this does not include vending items or trading gold or anything like that. You must actually loot the gold off the ground.
So, how do you guys suggest I go about farming this? I can farm anything on Inferno with about 300%MF and GF. I don't have much gold find gear as it simply doesn't drop (except 2 or 3 amulets...). And, of course, there's no AH to help out with the gearing process so unless something drops I'm basically out of luck there.
Any suggestions for farming methods? Going all the way through from normal Act 1 to killing Diablo gave me about 750K gold. So I've got a long way to go.
Act 1 currently seems to have a slightly higher density than the other Acts. Specifically the Fields of Misery and the Weeping Hollow. This still doesn't guarantee a lot of gold piles, but sounds like a good start if we're thinking of density.

You sure about that? From my experience so far, it seems that the density changes from patch 1.08 are not present in the console version... The weeping hollow does seem a bit dense though so i'm not sure.
I think that farming act 3 is the best option right now. You can clear keep depths 3-1, then go rakkis crossing to fields of slaughter, then go arreat craters, then repeat. I still did not test this run to see if it actually resets the earlier areas you cleared but i think it should work. And if not, then add in stonefort to the run and you're good to go.
Keep depths level 2 is the most packed place in the game i think. Just like D3 PC pre 1.08.

Nope, moldran have done some heavy testing on the density. Keeps 2 is not the most packed in the game still.
Here's a suggestion: western channel in the ancient waterways in Act 2, density turned on is required.
Well since there are no "monster power" levels in console I said that.
On the PC with the patch 1.0.8 when you turned the "difficulty" up to monster power 1 to 10 the amount of monsters in every act except act 3 would increase, to balance the monster density across all acts.
I would guess that if you are in inferno and turn change the difficulty to Master 1 or higher you would be seeing alot more monsters in A1, A2 and A4. I haven't played the console version so I don't know where the density comes in. But I do know that the console version was supposed to ship with the monster density changes.
I'm pretty sure the density changes are not present in the console version (as stated earlier). That's why it was weird when you said that Moldran tested it, as i haven't seen him playing on console at all. Anyway i might be wrong so if anyone has more accurate information, please correct me.
Indeed, you need Master I turned on in order to see the change, but it's not as heavy as on PC, because of the different controls. Still, there should be at least a moderately visible change.
I wish i could post images of my wiz / barb on the ps3... is there a better method than taking pictures with my phone? without having to buy any peripherials or something...
Anyway i started farming COTA yesterday with my brother (on console). We are doing it on master 5 and the drops are pretty nice. From like 10 runs we had atleast 5 legendaries and the experience gain is pretty high too. Up untill now all we could farm was master 1. We still can't farm master 5 effeciently but COTA is a nice small place with guaranteed champions so it's not really a challenge (unless there's Frozen + jailer+ arcane / plagued champs) since champions only have 3 affixes on the console version.
Anyway i tested out act 1 again and i gotta say that it is quite dense at times. The weeping hollow and the fields of misery are pretty good, yeah.

Yeah what does that mean? I don't recall having that option on console.

Maybe it's related to hardware limitations, or related to gameplay (better with less mobs?), maybe even both.
To the OP, I'd say pickup radius + gold find and paragon levels and you'll eventually get there.

I wouldn't know for sure though, I've only farmed on Inferno a few minutes anyways
