So it looks like the Mystic will probably only be able to reroll ONE affix per item while locking the rest in place. This seems like a pretty good way to do it to me. Now items with only one bad affix are now best in slot contenders, but not every single item in the game can be a contender for best in slot. I think the system would be too generous if this was done.
What does this mean for our current gear though? Pretty much ruins any chance of changing it into something worthwhile.
From what i read, the Mystic gives us a good enchanting system. First of all it acts as a needed item sink for the economy, but the big plus this NPC brings is that we have control on which affix to change and which one we want. The Rng in this method is only for the range of the desired property we want on our items and that's good. (At least i suppose there is a range of X-Y for the new property to roll after we enchanted the item).
Then, if we find the same Legendary but with higher base stats, we can enchant it too and have higher stats overall. At the moment i don't see something to complain about, but probably because i'm exctited for the expansion and my common sense is clouded by fanboysm <.<'

And this is exactly what enchanting needed to do.
If they allowed us to reroll every property it would obviously be too powerful. So giving us the ability to pick one property, then to pick the stat we're replacing it with is a happy medium. As you said, it allows items that are "one stat off" to become a lot more viable at the cost of being removed from circulation. I can't see what's bad about this at all. It's a completely win-win proposition.
When are they going to confirm that they aren't just boosting numbers and adding a few CTC affixes to Legendaries?
When are they going to confirm that rares will have a chance to have some neat affixes as well?
When are they going to confirm that 2-hand rares will have viability?
When are they going to confirm new socketables?
When are they going to show us they intend on doing something other than sticking with this bullshit main-stat/IAS/Crit/Resist business?
Has anyone else noticed that since Gamescom, all we've heard is bad news and more waiting?
Errrr they do have to have some shit to show us at Blizzcon..... You know, the forum they have for announcing big stuff about their franchises that they've been using for that purpose for years on end, right? They can't unveil it all now because some people have zero patience.
I'd hardly classify what Wyatt said as "bad news" or "more waiting" either. It was clarification of some of the basic questions people had been asking about enchanting, that's all. I was happy to have some of the unknowns on that front cleared up. At least now we know that you won't simply be turning level 60 items into quality level 70 items.
I'm unsure how you managed to take what amounts to answers to questions the community wanted answered and turn that into a negative. Wyatt could have said nothing about enchanting. Would you prefer that?
Additionally, just to make sure there isn't any confusion, we're not looking at releasing our itemization update for PC (a.k.a Loot 2.0) until the pre-expansion patch at the earliest. I know we've communicated that in previous posts, but I feel like it's good to call out again. We don't have a date set for that yet, but we'll be sure to keep everyone as updated as possible in the meantime.
They aren't releasing 2.0 until just before the x-pac....and 6 months might be way short of an estimate for that. We may be talking a year or more from today.
I have a feeling that after Blizzcon, it will be much the same as it is now; Where we have a thousand unanswered questions. "We're still tweaking 2.0. We're not sure, it's on the table but I assure you, we'll communicate with you when something is solid on that. Announcements are coming soon."
Instead of bringing us an honest effort for timely change, they packaged these seemingly nominal adjustments with a buzzword (Loot 2.0) and made sure to withhold it until well after the console sales reach a projected end to it's peek sales.
I ask you, what difference does a 3k DPS weapon do when it will be used against monsters that have 3 times the current health amount? It's the illusion of change, that's all. There's nothing tangibly different in play so far. Nothing.
You pay the money, then get a random set of affixes, if you don't like any of them, you just choose the original affix to cancel out. So there is still a chance of spending money with no results, but you'll never have the Mystic screw you over.
Most people are pretty pleased with this solution.
Yeah, I have the same pessimistic feeling about it.
They are going to "introduce diamonds and add a mystic". Those 2 will be the major changes for loot 2.0. And the major issues of the current itemization will be left untouched.
Are you sure?, no diamonds nor mystic in a patch?.
Presumably, the mystic will be introduced in Act 5, so you have to actually buy the xpack to use enchanting/transmog. I don't see how they could keep diamonds out of the hands of vanilla players unless even the AH is separated into xpack/non-xpack versions.
Everything they showed us so far has a "cosmetic changes" tendency. I'm not making up stuff. It's what it looks like so far.
Please enlighten me. I want a 5000 wall of text explaining what you think the expansion should be but you can't say "I want D2".
I see nothing wrong with the mystic you can change any secondary stat with a secondary stat of your choice (TBD as were not sure what the list is). How is that bad? What happens if you get a shit version of life leech on your new roll, roll again in any case it would be much better than leaving that +5000 life from health globes stat.
The item becomes a BoA and one more item from the millions on the AH can never be sold, yay for reducing AH inflation .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%
The mystic or someone SHOULD be allowed to add sockets but I think it was confirmed that wasn't happening.
What does the mystic have to do with cosmetic... or your talking about the transmorg. What does that have to do with loot again?
What does this mean for our current gear though? Pretty much ruins any chance of changing it into something worthwhile.
All current gear will be useless from the expac anyways. As pointed out were going to have to wait a fricken long time for the patch so really how the mystic affects vanilla gear is moot. The mystic might not even be available till act 5 in which case it has 0 bearing on our gear now.

"I think the answer is yes, if I did not hear it wrong, Josh said on the Gamescom presentation.
Correct. Sockets are a possible affix that can be re-rolled onto an item (at least currently)."

Front page, dude. Sockets are in.
Sweet thanks I haven't read the page yet (obviously :P), it's not quite what I hoped for but it's a start

I just hope they change how searching in the AH works, so you can actually search for 5 stats -1 any one of them ^^
Or you will have to search and look at an AH list 5 different times just to check if anything is good for the mystic >.<;
I very much doubt they will do this, since the whole point of enchanting is to give people a new way to get good items from drops, WITHOUT needing to resort to the AH. In other words, you aren't supposed to scan the AH to look for something to get enchanted; you're supposed to enchant stuff you find to make it better, so that you don't have to go to the AH in the first place.
That said, I'm all for UI and search improvements for the AH, especially for when I'm trying to figure out how much I can sell something for. "Search for similar items" really doesn't cut it.
What does this mean for our current gear though? Pretty much ruins any chance of changing it into something worthwhile.

I should imagine the next main announcement will be Blizzcon, but I'm sure you already know that.

Aside from the rhetorical nature of my comments......I'm getting the feeling that Blizzcon is when we'll find out they AREN'T doing these things.
Josh enters the stage .......DRUMROLL PLEASE "I'd like to introduce....THE DIAMOND!!!" TAHHH DAHHH!!!
Like what, seriously? A diamond? Dafuq are you hippies smoking? Lylrra already confirmed what I've been saying for weeks.

If that's the case, D3 is dead to me.
I hope I'm wrong.
Me too, I can't stand 750 of your posts. A change of attitude would be nice.

Personally, I think they should put the Mystic back in Act 1 where she belongs so everyone can use her, but that's just me.
lmfao
