Why do low-lvl legs sell (well) on AH?

  • #1
So i've been farming leorics signet for a while and have been getting a lot of low-lvl legs while farming it.
I for example found this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/rabid-strike, and it's now 500.000 g on AH with
lots of time left. Some days ago I sold some low-lvl legendary pants for nearly a million g.
Who buys this, and why pay all that money?

    1. Millions of gold ain't nothing now

    2. Alts

    3. People like legendarys (legendaries?)

    4. Some low-lvl rusties can sell for 10's or even 100's of millions in rare cases

Some low level items are really useful for power leveling (I've covered some of them here). In particular items with lots of bonus experience, vitality, legendaries with unusual stats for their level (like movement speed), and sockets (because high level gems have no level restriction).

And for some people 500.000g is nothing. There are people that have billions of gold on their account - and if they decide to level up a new character, they just buy some random low-level gear for a couple of million.

Ain't that the truth? If some idiot is willing to pay 10 million for a leveling item.... yeah I'll be the first in line to sell it to him!

Hell, maybe I'll be lucky enough to have a dozen of them and convince him that he needs all 12 of them... right?!

I have a 560 DPS Spectrum (level 30 requirement). Those can go for 2b minimum in gold AH and $50-60+ in the RMAH for slightly higher damage.

That makes me wonder if there's some anti-meme browser addon that will warn you about links to common memes.

thx for the answers, but can anyone then answer me why someone would pay 80 million for this?
  • #14
    Because they can.
Why are some people a-holes? Because they can.

Did you actually sell it for 80 million? The 3% AS gives it slightly higher base dps than other Rabid Strikes but a main stat or LS roll would be much better. If it actually sold that high then the buyer probably just got the game and didn't know any better.

Sewers of caldeum and dahlgur oasis. If a ring is dropped in sewers, it's garanteed to be leoric's at later parts of A2 normal, a level 17 ring can drop.
