D3 and a Vasectomy ..

  • #1
    I have a new Diablo 3 end game…

Half way through last month my wife and I were discussing the option of me getting the snip. We have 2 kids already and I am happy with that as 2 is great and I don’t want to press my luck (have 2 healthy boys :) ).
She needed some extra convincing as we are currently saving for a house and so to make the deal sweeter I suggested that I pay for it using D3 RMAH sales… She agreed

    Vasectomy = $400 NZD or $316 USD

Since the 21/05/2013 I have made $74 USD which is on my Paypal and have had $120 on my Bnet account from sales before that (left on the account for D3 expansion). So am halfway there if I cashed out Bnet balanace at a loss.

When D3 first showed that it would have a RMAH I was sceptical about how much people would use it, how much you could make and even if it violated US online gambling regulations (UIGEA).
Now it has become the source that will stop me from having any more children…

Anyone else have any RMAH cashout goals to buy particlaur things (possibly crazy like mine) outside D3?

Never used the RMAH, but some people I know use RMAH sales to buy cigarettes :hehe:
My neighbour used the RMAH to "work" during summer. All he did was play D3 as a summer job while the rest of his family was on vacation.

Good luck with the snip snip!

Yup, saving up to get a next gen console(probably PS4). I know, I know, consoles = blasphemy but I have my reasons.

Thanks to D3 I have not had to purchase a new video game or buy music equipment with my work money in 6 months.

though if the PS4 turns out to be shit I might just get myself a banjo.

When I first heard about the RMAH, my only goal was to earn enough to pay off the CE I intended to pre-order. Over a year later and I've not even made enough to even power my computer for a day. All the gold I earn tends to go straight back into the character, and as I finally started to earn some decent gold and consider cashing some out, the gold price went from £0.25 per million, to £0.25 per 10 million and devalued my earnings so much that I lost interest trying any more.

I might give it another try in future, but at the moment, I'm taking a break and loving to play self-found instead. Much more satisfying and rewarding I've found.

Did he earn much? I don't know if I could stand looking at the RMAH UI all day... eventually it really would become a job.

PS4 is actually a good plan.. Maybe I will save for that next actually. Should be some Final Fantasy games coming out soon that I want to play on it (FF Versus).

Yeah I have made a point to make sure that my d3 wealth (so to speak) is in BNET balance. Gold depreciates..
I currently have 100million as a 'float' always and the rest I try make into my Bnet balance which if changed now would = like 4.5 billion
Also makes it less annoying when things like the 'gold duping' day occur..

That netted me $250 on July 28th, 2012. I had a few other minor sales. Paid for my Annual Pass and then some. I find it funny that I couldn't get someone to piss on me for that neck nowadays.

Being able to pay for D3, though, was essentially all I truly cared about. The extra money is just part of the beer fund!

This is one of the craziest things I've heard in a while.
    Good luck nonetheless.

Wow I guess this was before AS nerf and LOH was more useful than Life Steal (when the average players DPS was around 50k).
I would be super stoked to have got a $250 sale.. my biggest has been $40 which was about 2 months ago. Maybe in the expansion or itemisation patch it will happen for me..

This is a really weird topic

What if we have a cataclysm on Earth and the only people left are you and Emilia Clarke?

How are you going to repopulate Earth in that situation? :P You might have some fun, but then we'll be doomed!

It is also not 100% effective so I will convince her to keep trying with me until we succeed..

@#$$@# me... I've never made one sell on the RMAH. Although I could see it just either sitting in my account balance or cashing out for gold >_>

Have booked my vasectomy to occur in a weeks time...

Got up to $235 on my Pay-Pal which I have withdrawn (still have 110 on Bnet Balance not sure if I should cash out at a loss or not..)

Found out that my health insurance that work pays for covers the rest :)

    So... umm ...thanks Diablo 3..

Glad to know that playing the game has paid off for you. Literally. :)

May i ask what you do for a living?

I didn't even think for a second about the cost of my vasectomy... just that i wouldn't have to endure another brain dead (pregnant) wife moment... or deal with another terrible two year beyond my two kids lol...

Mine was like $250 AFTER insurance (1500 prior), but then again at the time I had a shitty HSA plan and just threw money into a pile to be spent on healthcare.

Are you making most of your profit flipping items or finding them? I haven't had much luck regardless of what ever approach I try.

Wife is currently on the IUD -so there has been no rush to get the vasectomy. I have 2 boys under 3 and am happy and just wanted the more permanent solution as we do not want anymore.
Here it is like $300 after my Insurance ($1000 before).

Yeah I could easily have paid for it normally but as there was no rush in doing it and since I was making some chump change every few days on D3 I thought I would just use that money..

I am a Demand Response Analyst.. basically I sign up big industrial sites, or places with backup generation or network companies so that during a times of peak demand (eg a really cold day and everyone turns on their heaters) I call on these sites to reduce their consumption or turn on their generators to reduce the peak. We pay these people to basically reduce their electricity consumption as at it saves us money (my company owns/operate the transmission grid/high voltage lines in New Zealand) to pay them instead of having to invest in buying/building new lines to meet demand growth. On a good salary for being 25.. 83k NZ.. not sure what that is in US.. 70k US?

Flipping.. but look to flip items from GAH to RMAH. Have never bought RMAH to try sell on RMAH..
My target market i guess are the casual players who have maybe just bought the game or players who a leveling up new characters and want them geared to do MP10 the whole way through.
I do not sell lvl60+ items as the item market is saturated and everyone is trying to flip there
I focus on level 50 items and below... and flip the great items from GAH to RMAH
