Every time Blizzards find a way to make less and less people play diablo 3 and after this EU patch they did it again Right now 1 Bil is 35$ (clean -15% -15% -1$ = around 25-27$ or less don't know).
Every time they think of a way to make the Game GOOD it's the other way around.
From the Bug Resplendent chests to Dupe's in the AH (1.0.4 patch) then Turning the Clock around to take ur gold back, now the Dupe Gold (in US).
The Deaths in HC Duels that occur when they release the patch, like every patch they make the game crappy and crappy and from a top game it's become almost non playable game, right now if u want to play some game to make ur time pass it's not gonna be Diablo 3, the Every Grinding stopped few patches for me right now i am just W8-ing for an Expansion on Diablo 3 hopefully it will be fun.
But now to make a Gold in D3 would be less and less easy, right now the ppl that don't have like 500 Bilions (or at least 2 bil) will bite the dust cuz 1 item that now is around 10 mil it will be 100 mil or more after this new thing they did in the RMAH.
There were rumors they will close the RMAH Gold (i mean that gold would not sale in the RMAH) but after they made such an effort to stop the gold duppers and botters by making the economy cripple well not only the Botters will stop playing.
I talked with about 200 ppl this morning that will stop playing d3 only cuz 10 mil = 0.25$ that just made the game even worse than now!
That means 0.25$ in the AH for 10 mil but in other sites or sellers that means 100 mil 0.25~30 cents
Well wanna see what u think about this and how the game is going to be in the future?
Games done nothing but get better and better for me. This last patch has made it so I can play all Acts and have a decent amount of monsters to kill.
Has there been problems with the patches..yup but the world hasnt come to an end like all the haters predicted with the gold dupe fiasco. Items I couldnt afford before I still cant afford and I found a nice upgrade for my monk for a steal actually.
As usual things will balance out in the end. People seem to forget that price means jack shit if no one buys it. Will prices spike...yup but that also means Ill be able to sell things for more which means I get more money which means I get to buy more expensive things.
The rmah change was a broad move indeed, I'm interested in seeing how this affects gem prices and stuff like that in the coming weeks, but who knows, the gold prices may go back up (unless it's Blizzard setting these prices;o? I really have no idea how much they influence it).
The only thing I have against the game is their lack of action against dupes/bots.
People whined the last time they lowered the gold floor in the RMAH and it didn't wreck the game, as people claimed it would back then.
The reality of the fact is that most people were buying gold on 3rd party sites because the pre-1.0.8 RMAH floor was way too high. The whole point to the RMAH was to provide safe transactions. If the price on gold is so high that no one uses it that kinda defeats the purpose. Since many people were getting gold off-site, for much lower than the pre-1.0.8 values (I know I saw gold on PlayerAuctions for about 35% of what it was on the RMAH) I think it's pretty stupid to think that items are just going to cost 10x more gold.
already saw a lot of items and Craft Req. (like essences, tomes and stuff) are going up up and away...
From 4k brimstone - 9k gold, saw like over 2000 items that usually cost 5~10 mills to be 1d12h re-selling for 50~75 mils (that's not all some ppl are at work - school and stuff and yet not seen the RMAH gold).Right now 1b is 35 $ / around 27 clean if u sell it | and about those 3-rd party sites not only site's but ppl are selling like 1 bilion for 20$ (or less have seen selling for 18$).
After this the next patch would probably lift the 2 Bilion max (on the Price in AH) to some crazy price like 50 bil ~ 100 bil, so Blizzard would start getting more and more% cuz 50 Bil - 15% in gold it's a LOT.
The only Good thing blizzard can do now is to Announce and Release the already Ready Expansion
Everything is Going up like crazy from gems and essences to items, and a lot of ppl are not so rich in d3 from new members to some old u know how hard it is to find a good item that u can sell for 100 ~ 1bil, right now i sold 10,000 Fire stones for 98 milions
The change to the min gold stacks sellable on the RMAH shouldn't really have any major impact on the economy. Like other people said 3rd party sites already sold gold for way cheaper than on the RMAH and most who wanted to spend real money either used those sites or simply bought gems from RMAH and sold on the GAH. Basically no one bought gold from the RMAH for a long time. The change simply brings the RMAH gold value closer to the gem price so you no longer have to worry about the 15% cut from trying to sell the gem on the GAH.
If people are wanting to quit because of that one change, it's more likely they're just looking for an excuse to quit the game. Otherwise they should really ask how the change has any impact on them. It's not like any of them were actually selling gold before anyway.
Also, prices on items going up has been happening continuously since launch because there are no major gold sinks. It will continue to happen. It is not a byproduct of the change to min gold stacks on the RMAH.
Anyway, even if an item is worth 10M gold and ends up being 100M (which I honestly do not anticipate happening anytime soon, if at all), then that only means the gear that you're currently wearing will gain value as well. That just means the next drop you get that would be worth 10M, would be worth 100M instead. Problem?
If everyone starts buying gold and items shoot up in value, then it only makes sense that everything else similar to such items will shoot up in value as well. It's not like your current gear that you bought for 500M suddenly drops down in value when everything else identical to your stats go up. That's not going to happen. If anything, your gear is worth more now in terms of gold, while the real money conversion will stay the same.
Just going to emphasize Loroese's point about RMAH competing with third party gold. I constantly keep track of the black market price because the majority of the items I trade with players are worth significantly more than 2 billion gold (and I'm not interested in putting them up in RMAH because of the massive cut via PayPal). Many players I trade with buy gold—can't say where, but they buy gold. I price things according to the gold-real money conversion rate. If you haven't noticed before, but you really can't find any 6 crit chance Mempos in the gold AH. If any, they're incredibly rare. However, many show up in the RMAH each day.
By dropping the "RMAH value" of gold, more players will be inclined to trade through the AH rather than risk scams or risk getting into account trouble through trading with real money outside D3. In addition, they will slowly cripple the third party botted gold market. Eventually, it'll drop down to a penny per mil, a penny per 10M, and so on and so forth.
Even if people complain now, it's for the greater good of the game environment. Wait until a new standard is set because right now the economy is still in confusion because many players do not know how to react to the changing RMAH values of gold. As an example, my gear was quoted to be worth somewhere upward of 100 billion gold. Converting to "third party gold" prices, that was around $2,500 pre-patch 1.08. Today, based on the gold conversion, if I choose to keep the same value of $2,500 (why not, there aren't many pieces out there that are better than mine), my gear is worth approximately 125 billion gold.
Now I also want to point out that it's usually high-end gear that gets affected most by changing conversion rates. Low and mid-tier gear will constantly be floating around in the market. And as players continue to find such gear, which is all the time, the market will be consistently saturated and players will continue to undercut each other in order to make faster sales. There won't be much of a difference compared to pre-1.08 because of the whole supply-and-demand concept. Low and mid-tier items are constantly recycled amongst players. High-end gear, however, are usually stuck on players for longer durations because upgrades at that level are hard to come by. Thus, those individual gear values will continue to rise over time until new and better types of gear enter the market.
TL;DR, wait for the new standard of prices. Your own gear will be worth a certain value and things you find will be worth a certain value. Whether or not the average price is similar to pre-1.08 patches is a different story, but overall the real-money value of the gear will not change.
For some people it is a problem at least: The gold you had pre-patch loses its value (though it matters how much you had/what are you spending it on). Other than that, not many changes for the average player.
Tell me about it... I had 7.5 billion gold going into 1.08. Didn't know what to do with it.
Went up to 9 billion right after they restored the AH.
I can perfectly enjoy this game without using the RMAH - actually I haven't spent a single cent on it. So I don't care what the RMAH prices are - it just doesn't affect me. And, yes I am using the normal AH but haven't bought anything for over 1 mill and I have a character of every class in SC that can run MP3 just fine. You don't have to be rich nor do you have to be an AH camper/sniper to play this game and enjoy it. Of course, this is my play style, and other players will look at it differently. But these blanket statements like "Blizzard has ruined the game for everyone" are just plain nonsense. Blizzard may have ruined the game for you because your play style and your expectations are not matched by what they have done, but this doesn't apply to everyone and nobody really knows what the "majority" of players feel.

One thing I would like to add is that there will be a new standard if you're talking about inflation across all items.
As of now, I don't see it. I actually just made a MP3-4 capable Archon wizard for under 10M gold:
